A few questions
[edit]Hello, Dean. I have a few questions about your work on Wikipedia.
- I see that you say you have years of experience of creating and editing Wikipedia articles, but this account is new today. What other account or accounts have you used?
- I see that you say that you have been "helping individuals and organizations establish a credible online presence". Presumably that means that you create aricles on other people's behalf, to publicise or promote them. Is that correct? If so, for which articles have you done that? Also, do you edit or create articles for pay? JBW (talk) 12:48, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello JBW,
- Thank you for your questions, and I apologize for any confusion. The mention of "years of experience" in creating and editing articles was an error on my part. My involvement has mostly been around minor edits, such as correcting spelling or making small improvements in already published articles. I do not create new articles or manage multiple accounts.
- As for helping individuals and organizations, I don’t engage in promotional work on Wikipedia. My contributions are focused on improving existing content by following Wikipedia’s guidelines to ensure accuracy and neutrality.
- I appreciate your understanding, and I’ve already removed the incorrect information. Thanks again for reaching out!
- Best regards,
- Dean Dean Twaks (talk) 09:12, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- I would highly recommend not trying to deceive editors, including JBW. Stating that you have moved on to "content development, particularly within the Wikipedia ecosystem" and talking about working with clients is not a mere "error". You went as far to encourage people to reach out to you to edit on their behalf. It is far better you be upfront with other editors and declare any other accounts and disclose any conflicts of interest and/or paid edits. Best, GPL93 (talk) 21:10, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Dean Twaks, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Blocked
[edit]Hi, Dean Twaks. I notice that after I JBW and GPL93 queried the information on your userpage about your expertise in creating and editing Wikipedia articles, helping individuals and organizations establish a credible online presence through well-crafted content
, where you also stated you have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients from industries like publishing, finance, technology, and beyond
, you promptly removed all the information about "clients" from the page, and also changed this user talkpage in suggestive ways. Then you replied to JBW apologizing "for any confusion". But clearly neither JBW, nor GPL93, nor myself are 'confused'; we are on the contrary capable of reading first your original words, and then your denial of those words as "an error on my part". Even for a paid editor, such barefaced denial of obvious facts is unusual. You have been blocked indefinitely as not being here to help create an encyclopedia. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
