Hitchhiking
[edit]Hi, messages should be put on Talk pages, not in the article body, I've reverted your contribution, please consider readding it to the Talk page. - FrancisTyers 18:02, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- People who are watching the hitchhiking page will also be watching the talk page. If you click on the watch link at the top, then on "my watchlist" you can see that it doesn't matter if an article or talk page is changed it will appear on your watchlist. Comments, requests etc. should be added to talk pages, you could also suggest an alternative sentence that removes the ambiguity... - FrancisTyers 18:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]To undo multiple edits, go to the history tab, select which revision you want to revert to, edit and save. There is no way to revert multiple edits with an automated summary that I know of. If you are concerned about an unencyclopaedic section, the first thing to do is mention it on the talk page. I will add the page to my watchlist so I can discuss with you (and any other participants) there. WP:V is an important policy to read on this matter. Glad to see you around Wikipedia again :) - Francis Tyers · 11:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't worry about changing your name to your real name, since you have already revealed what your real name is, it's not like it's going to make a big difference. If someone is interested in harassing you they already have the ammunition. Mangojuicetalk 16:48, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

- It seems likelier to me that the non-Wikipedia page (http://hubpages.com/hub/about_cleft_palate) was plagiarized from Wikipedia. Another article (http://hubpages.com/hub/Eiffel_Tower) published three years ago by the same author contains text appearing in Wikipedia four years ago.
- FWIW, the text in the Latham appliance article came from Cleft_lip_and_palate#Cleft_palate_treatment, so if Wikipedia was the plagiarist then that article requires scrutiny. —Christian Campbell 02:44, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I couldn't really tell, which is why I listed the page art WP:CP rather than asked for deletion straight away. I didn't notice that it had been split from the other article. Looking at that, it looks like the text on Wikipedia pre-dates that from hubspages. As you say, it looks like the same author is just taking stuff from Wikipedia. I've added this detail to the listing at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2010 September 1 and asked a more experienced editor to take a look. It may be that Latham appliance will need to be deleted & recreated to give attribution to the article it came from. Anyway, thanks for letting me know.--BelovedFreak 09:47, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- You'll see the issue has now been sorted. Thanks for your help! --BelovedFreak 08:37, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:46, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Articles without clear national ties
[edit]I noticed that you changed 'half mast' to 'half staff' in the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 article. Per MOS:RETAIN, please be careful not to assume a preference for American English. If you check through the article, you'll find that there is no clear evidence of its written in American English. With copyediting, particularly on articles currently being developed, it is best to leave anything outside of obvious spelling mistakes, punctuation and syntax as written.
Cheers! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 00:00, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
