Fluoroquinolone Articles
[edit]Just thought I would thank you for taking the time to fix the various typos within my articles. Really appreciated. When you write something that intense it is quite easy to miss minor mistakes like that as the words tend to all blur together after a while. Keep up the good work, your efforts do make a difference. adverse reactions
[edit]You had recently edited the adverse reaction section for ciprofloxacin with the addition of:
"Ciprofloxacin can be responsible for many adverse reactions, some of which may not abate for years, even after therapy has been completed or withdrawn. Some adverse reactions may appear months or years after completion of therapy with ciprofloxacin. See Fluoroquinolone_toxicity_syndrome."
Would that not be redundant since this is already stated within the introduction?
"Ciprofloxacin is associated with a significant number of serious and life threatening adverse reactions as well as spontaneous tendon ruptures and irreversible peripheral neuropathy. Such reactions may manifest long after therapy had been completed and result in life long disabilities. See Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Syndrome."Davidtfull (talk) 22:17, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
May thanks for your constructive edits. All help is appreciated during this rewrite of this article to match the recognized consensus. We now how two co tracts until thing work themselves out. Cheers.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- We need to provide quantitative information. There is no good information about tendon problems.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:06, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
What about the information from the FDA AERS MEDWATCH, or the data that Public Citizen has amassed? Public Citizen didn't get the black box warnings without some evidence. I believe this stuff was in the article before the massive editing started. Dbcipro (talk) 20:22, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Have reference the PN problem to the FDA. There is plenty of good info now about the MSK system. More work is needed. Thanks for the references.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:32, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- There are lots of great review on the topic http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&DbFrom=pubmed&Cmd=Link&LinkName=pubmed_pubmed_reviews&LinkReadableName=Related%20Reviews&IdsFromResult=17911203&ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DiscoveryPanel.Pubmed_Discovery_RA&log$=relatedreviews&logdbfrom=pubmed --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:33, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Many thanks for the changes and correction. The section on Controversies surrounding fluoroquinolone needs to be expanded. This should discuss the groups like the one David runs who against these drugs and the people who prescribe them. The references in these section are less rigid as this is more of a social / culture discussion rather than a scientific one.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:13, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
