Newcastle Town Walls - GA Review
Hi. I got your message. I'll have a look at the reviewer's comments today and see what I can do. Dposte46 (talk) 10:03, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I have made some changes to the article in response to the list provided by the reviewer. I have marked the items in the list as 'done' where I believe that I have dealt with the reviewer's comments. Let me know if you think that I need to change any thing else. Dposte46 (talk) 15:33, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Withdrawn FACs
Please let me know in the future if you need a FAC withdrawn so I can do it correctly; the way you did it messes up the archiving and GimmeBotification, and since it's too much to work to correct it now, I'm just going to leave it the way it is. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:37, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also, 1) I don't see a withdraw request there, and 2) the FAC should have been archived as a fail, not withdrawn, which I was going to do within hours. Please don't take it upon yourself to remove a FAC in the future, thanks for understanding. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:42, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Newcastle upon Tyne
Why has the contribution for the Newcastle upon Tyne: Fairs & Festivals: North East Art Expo 2008 been removed. What blatant copyright infringement has it caused? Please advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.153.166 (talk) 22:43, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- It was copied word for word from the cited website. By all means re-add the info, but it needs to be reworded--not just to avoid the copyvio, but to be more encyclopedic and less promotional sounding. Dbam Talk/Contributions 21:51, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I've just re-added the contribution, reworded and more encyclopedic as you suggested. Unbelievably, one of your peers has removed it again this time under a different pretense. What makes this contribution now different from the previous contributions in the paragraph? I totally give up!!!

- I must admit I think that's pretty harsh—it's certainly no different to much of what else is there. That said, I can understand it: even if it wasn't your intention, other editors could take advantage of the section to promote an event in which they have an interest (in the same way student bands sometimes add themselves to the Bands and musicians section). Maybe the section as a whole needs looking at; only include traditional and multicultural festivals or whatever. Anyway, I hope this hasn't put you off editing Wikipedia, it's annoying but sometimes these things happen. Dbam Talk/Contributions 17:54, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I notice you commented on this. It seems theres actually several similar articles on other characters, which I've added to the afd. Some of these have already had attempts at tidying up, but its been done in a slightly inconsistent way. I've added what I found to the afd. I wondered if you wanted to comment further give the afd has expanded since your original comment. --BrucePodger (Lets have a beer) 14:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WCTR Talk Radio.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:WCTR Talk Radio.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Blyth Railway Station, Northumberland
Thanks for your message. The closure date to passengers was definitely 2 November 1964 - the local newspaper, Blyth News, carried an article and photo the following week showing the last train awaiting departure at 11.59pm that evening.
Regarding the platforms, I have photos, drawings and OS maps as well as childhood memories. I know for certain that the platforms were numbered 1 and 2 as there was only one island platform, with two faces. The original info may have been misprinted or misread (2 and 7 can be easily confused).
I am aware of the book that mentions the incorrect date: this was issued some years ago by Blyth History Society and I have no idea why the editor (Bob Balmer) quotes the incorrect date.
Many thanks

Owner of A Lonely Heart
In the mission "Alloy Wheels of Steel" While Tommy is talking to Baker you hear "Owner of a Lonely Hearts" in the background. I don't understand why you keep deleting my incert. It's an awsome song & deserves credit. Even in Wikipedia's "Yes" page they talk about how "Owner of a Lonely Heart" is in there. I just don't get it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 00:36, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Owner of a Lonely Heart II
Me again. You can just call me Jack the Ripper for now. I'm a big fan of GTA & Yesso I just tried to help the band by adding their song. As I said befor, I'm just trying to credit a good song. Go to my usertalk page (you can find it in the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtrackhistory page) & tell me why you keep taking it off. I also switched around some characters in the GTA: San Andreas characters page. I suspect you revised that too. I take it you care alot about GTA, I used to be addicted to them but I've sort of gotten over it. I wont make any more changes until you give me a reason. See ya. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 00:51, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Jack the Ripper
Hey Dbam, just wanted to tell you that I would like to know why you keep taking Owner of a Lonely Heart off the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtrack "Hidden Songs" page. You can get my talk page at the GTA Vice City Sountrack edit history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 02:00, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Jack, sorry for the late response, I haven't been on WP for the last couple of days. I originally posted this at User talk:209.244.187.249 but then relised you seemed to use different IPs. Anyway, to answer your question, I, and at least one other user, have removed Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart from the hidden songs section because it's already on Flash FM, which I clearly stated in my edit summary. The songs listed as "hidden" (a bad title to be honest, since they're not really hidden) are those which do not appear on any radio stations; as the first sentence explains: "Vice City includes a few songs present in the game, through various cutscenes, that are not featured on any radio station." I hope this clears things up. Dbam Talk/Contributions 17:50, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Owner of a Lonely Heart III
I'm really sorry. I didn't know that Owner of A Lonely Heart was on the Flash FM category. I assumed that since Yes is a rock band it would be on V-Rock. I guess that Yes doesn't fall into the Heavy Metal category that Lazlow was looking for. Sorry for insulting you in my edit summary. Talk to ya later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 02:39, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Jack the Ripper II
Sorry if I keep bothering you. I just wanted to ask you if you are also responsable for rearanging (don't know if I spelled that right) my rearangement of the GTA: San Andreas character list. Also, just wondering-its alright if you don't-could you give me another name to call you. Dbam's getting kind of annoying, no offense. See ya later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 02:44, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hello again Jack. Yes, it was me who reverted your edit to the GTA:SA characters page. Basically, the way that list is structured is based on each character's role in the game. As I see it, it's CJ (main protagonist) and Tenpenny (main antagonist), plus the essential mission providers who are major; all non-essential mission providers are supporting; all other characters who have a bearing on the main story are minor. Now personally I've come to believe that the whole Major/Supporting/Minor set up is a tad on the original research side. I'd prefer to see something like this old GTA IV character page revision where characters are literally catagorised by their roles, but I don't really have the time to deal with that at the minute. If you don't like the way the page is set up at the moment, I would suggest raising any concerns at the article's talk page and try to get some sort of consensus before making any drastic changes.
- As for a new name, hmmm...how about "Mr D"? Or maybe "The Bammeister"? Seriously though, I'm guessing you mean an actual christian name, but to be honest, using my real name would rather defeat the purpose of an alias. A lot of registered users use aliases, some probably more annoying than mine, it's just one of those things you've got to get used to round here I suppose. Dbam Talk/Contributions 15:31, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Jack the Ripper III
Hey Dbam. I just think I'll keep calling you that, it's easier to type in. I'm sorry if I offended you asking for your real name, I didn't actually mean "Real Name" as in the one you were born with. Like my user talk is just a bunch of numbers so I created "Jack the Ripper". Interesting story about that actually; my friend sent in a letter to my school's paper saying it was a bunch of girls talking about girly things (no offense if you are a girl) & signed it "Jack the Ripper" after the famous serial killer letters. He was discovered though due to his handwriting. I guess you are a big GTA fan, huh? So am I, my mother worries that I may end up just like Toni or CJ.
My grandfather's cousin is actually a mobster named John Connolly in jail right now. The film The Departed was based on that story. My grandfather's uncle was loosly adapted into Matt Damon's character. It is a good movie. Talk to ya later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.23.61 (talk) 01:22, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's OK, I wasn't offended. By the way, have you thought about signing up? The numbers on your user talk are your IP address, if you want to have your own personal user name then you'll need to create an account (although, as it doesn't already exist, I have a feeling "Jack the Ripper" might be considered unsuitable). Take a look here if you're interested. Dbam Talk/Contributions 21:22, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey Dbam. Thanks for the welcome. This has nothing to do with the GTA stuff, but I was reading some of your chat stuff on your page (sorry if that's bad) & found someone under the article "Yo". I though it was funny about how he was mad about you deleting his stuff & saying it was important, you responding "No its not". I was just wondering what it was the fued was about. Its okay if I don't have to know. I'll look at the GTA stuff now. Bye. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.10.210.86 (talk) 01:44, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Posting things on Wikipedia
Hey Dbam. Its Jack. I remember reading somewhere that you can post things on Wikipedia for people to read. I may be mistaken about it, but I don't know how to do it. I wanted you to tell me. I wanted to take a survey & ask about an alternative part of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City where Diaz was part of messing up the Vance-Forelli drug deal but Colonel Cortes was the mastermind behind it. I like surprises so I though it would be a good idea. What do you think? Anyway, I guess you could say I don't know alot about Wikipedia yet. I've been using it for years but just got an account. Jack. --Zeppellin94 (talk) 01:55, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Zeppellin94
Notabilaty (Lord knows if I spelled that right)
Hey Dbam. I'm really sorry I keep bothering you, I just keep forgetting to tell you stuff. I wanted to say that since you said there should be special pages for "Notable" GTA characters which is why most GTA protagonists have their own page. I wanted to say some other characters are worth noting- Catalina may be notable, seeing as she plays a major character in Grand Theft Auto III & a supporting character in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I also think Phil Cassidy deserves a page of his own, seeing as he is in 4 of the 6 GTA games. Sorry again for bothering you, Jack --Zeppellin94 (talk) 02:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Zeppelli94

I was on a different computer when I got your message so I decided not to post my name on the list for the GTA task force (the IP address would go to this computer, not mine). I decided to wait till I got home. I will message you when I get my name on there. Also, I don't know how to get that GTA Task Force seal on my page.
I guess I was mistaken when it comes to posting things on the site. As I said, I wasn't entirely sure.
I see what you mean when it comes to notability as for Phil & Catalina. I'll talk to you later--72.10.210.71 (talk) 19:24, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Zeppellin94
GTA stuff
Hey Dbam. Just signed up for the Task Force. Just wanted to tell you that. I also wanted your opinion on my opinion about Cortez being the villian in Vice City being better than Diaz doing it alone. I also came to the conclusion that it would make more sense if Lance Vance was a girl (the way they talk to each other implies they are gay).
Jack. --Zeppellin94 (talk) 01:10, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Zeppellin94
User page
Hey Dbam. Glad you liked my ideas. I put the user box in my page, but that's all I have. I still don't quite know how to put other user boxes in or how to put pictures in. I would like to put user boxes in about my favorite things (band, subject, video game etc.). Also, I had another idea about GTA; what would you think about a GTA movie based on one of the games. I thought it would be kind of cool. Anyway, get back to me when you can, Jack.
P.S.: I don't have a death wish so I won't be calling Vercetti a homo anytime soon.--Zeppellin94 (talk) 01:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Zeppellin94
