[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in William, Prince of Wales, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 15:06, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
William Prince of Wales is incorrect he is The Prince William The Prince of Wales just like his father before him. Please do some research before criticising me. Dbainsford (talk) 15:08, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- The full style is given in the relevant section of the article. We don't use the full style at the top. Just like any other organization, wikipedia has a manual of style to ensure consistency across pages. DrKay (talk) 15:10, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 15:11, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Then why was that way used for the king. I will change it again. Please stop being so disrespectful to The Prince. Dbainsford (talk) 15:13, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at William, Prince of Wales, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. DrKay (talk) 15:20, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at William, Prince of Wales shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. DrKay (talk) 15:20, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Please stop attacking other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. This sort of insult is not acceptable. DrKay (talk) 15:21, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Stop reverting my edits then. Simple. According to the London gazette and letter patent he is HRH The Prince William, Prince of Wales or HRH The Prince of Wales for short. Dbainsford (talk) 15:25, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- You have reverted more than 4 times in the space of 24 hours. You must undo your last revert. DrKay (talk) 15:29, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- When you can prove to me that is his name i will revert. Dbainsford (talk) 15:32, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- You've got two choices. Modify your behaviour or be blocked. The community doesn't have time or patients, when one editor's being disruptive. GoodDay (talk) 16:50, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- This user just reverted my reversion even though they have been told numerous times not to not do so. I believe the three-revert rule has been well-broken at this point. Unlimitedlead (talk) 17:53, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

https://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/titles-and-heraldry states that he is HRH Prince William, Prince of Wales Dbainsford (talk) 17:39, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
How can you all be so disrespectful to a living individual by using an incorrect name. Disrespectful and disgusting Dbainsford (talk) 17:54, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Personal attacks to other users will not be condoned. Please stop making them. Unlimitedlead (talk) 17:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
What personal attack. You are personally attacking Prince William by using an incorrect name Dbainsford (talk) 17:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- "Disrespectful and disgusting" definitely sounds like a personal attack. Unsubstantiated and false claims about other users will also not be condoned. It should be worth noting that neither "name" is incorrect, but the general consensus is that the article should read "William, Prince of Wales." This formatting has been used for years on hundreds of articles. Unlimitedlead (talk) 18:00, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
"William, Prince of Wales" is incorrect. He has never been called just William, as grandchild of a monarch at birth he has always had the name Prince William Dbainsford (talk) 18:02, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
William, Prince of Wales
[edit]Hello! As you have recently been involved in edits to the form of Prince William's name in the first line of his article, I am informing you that I have begin a talk page discussion on the topic. A.D.Hope (talk) 18:18, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion
[edit]Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 18:47, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

. Daniel Case (talk) 19:16, 11 September 2022 (UTC)So you have blocked someone because of the use of a proper name. What about the others that were reverting? Jrdk1 (talk) 20:19, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:
I was only updating the name of Prince William to the correct format. The others were disrespectfully changing it making out that he is not a current Prince. His style and Title are his name as shown in multiple Gazette articles. Current Princes of Wales have The Prince of Wales as their name not William Prince of Wales as people here suggest. Dbainsford (talk) 12:29, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You are justifying your edit warring. You need to convince us that if we were to unblock you, you would not continue to edit war. As it is, you do not acknowledge that edit warring is disruptive. I am declining your request. PhilKnight (talk) 13:02, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
But calling someone by the wrong name is OK? Dbainsford (talk) 13:04, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
What about the others that were constantly changing it to "William, Prince of Wales"? Dbainsford (talk) 13:05, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- Content dispute. Please discuss content and sourcing on the talk page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:22, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- I have already done so and have the agreement to change it to his legal name but one individual kept changing it back and then put this report in about me. You are completely unfair and unjustified for blocking me. Dbainsford (talk) 13:26, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
is closed. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:21, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

- I've revoked TPA. I was tempted to increase the block to indefinite. I suspect that will happen anyway once this block expires.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:19, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
