Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Davidthelion2, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! AstroCog (talk) 17:44, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition to Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. DMacks (talk) 23:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Thomas J Kelly Photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thomas J Kelly Photo.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The confirmation of the copyright release should be sent to the address on found at WP:OTRS otherwise the correct 'ticket' can't be created. There is usually a backlog with the OTRS volunteers, so you'll need a bit of patience. Skier Dude (talk) 04:53, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David! Thank you for starting to convert the external links into wikilinks as I suggested.

However, please note, that the wikilink for BRCA1 should be [[BRCA1]] not [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRCA1 BRCA1]] (and not [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRCA1 BRCA1] either). This produces: BRCA1 instead of: [BRCA1]. And likewise with the other ones.

Thanks! --Demiurge1000 (talk) 15:12, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Errant comment

[edit]

Hi. Your comment at Wikipedia talk:Contact us#Simon N. Powell would be better placed on the talk page of the "Simon N. Powell" article itself. But actually, you generally needn't make such requests, as someone usually comes along shortly to check on recent contributions, anyway (as happened mere minutes after your last edit to the article). If you think you've made an edit that might be controversial or needs explanation/justification, you should definitely leave a comment on the talk page of the article you actually changed. Happy editing! - dcljr (talk) 11:40, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Resigning from COI of this page. How to remove COI disclosure?

[edit]

Per MSK policy, I shall not suggest edits or corrections to this Wikipedia article. Am I permitted to remove my COI disclosure? If not, what is the policy to do so?

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
