Could you make a gallery for UP 3985, just so it has one like 4014 and 844? I would do it, but the 3985 page is protected where only “official users” can edit it. 23.169.64.51 (talk) 19:06, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, 3985's Commons page does not have a lot of good photos that can be used for it. In the future, once it is restored to service and good pictures appear, I will happily make a gallery. The page is currently protected as a result of vandalism that occurred during its period of retirement. Davidng913 (talk) 19:34, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, fair enough. Also, could you start a page for Mount Emily Company Shay #1, and then I could fill it up with info about it? The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation owns it now, and since the Foundation's original 3 trio each have their own page, I think it's somewhat fair that Shay #1 should also have a page of it's own. I just finished filling up the page about Polson Logging #2, a Visiting engine of the ORHF. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.169.64.51 (talk) 22:06, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because I don't have knowledge for this locomotive, you will need to ask someone else to create a page for it. Davidng913 (talk) 01:00, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries more often

[edit]

When you make a series of edits with no edit summaries, like these, it's much more difficult for other editors to understand what it is you changed. If you had simply taken the 5 seconds to type out "changed photo" and "added link", I and other editors with the article on our watchlists can quickly see what you did and spend much less time checking edits. You're an experienced editor I see editing fairly often so I generally trust your edits, but please make more of an effort to use edit summaries. Understood. I often publish too fast before I think so I apologize for this in advance. Davidng913 (talk) 14:33, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

March 2023

[edit]

I hate to bother you, but I need some input from someone. I recently remade CNW 1385’s page from scratch, but right now I’m debating over whether or not I should get rid of this photo.

[1] This has been put in categories for the Strasburg Rail Road, but that doesn’t hold up, as sources I’ve recently found state that the wheels were sent directly to the more remote SPEC Machine. It gives me the feeling these aren’t even 1385’s wheels, but I wanted to hear someone else’s thoughts before I do anything about it. May need to look at more photos of the 1385 itself and see if the drivers look identical. Chances are, if they're not of the 1385, whoever uploaded the image had no idea which wheels those belong to and probably slapped a random locomotive onto the file. That's my opinion. Do feel free to ask other people about it. Thanks for reaching out! Davidng913 (talk) 23:57, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, not a problem. I just want to be sure. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 00:05, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay false alarm. It turns out I just found a source that outright said No. 1385's driving wheels were sent to Strasburg. So there's that. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 06:59, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm reaching out on updates to Union Pacific Railroad ; I posted an updated roster to the Talk page, but it hasn't seem to go anywhere. Would love to work with someone to clean up the page. MJ UnionPacific (talk) 18:01, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
