Princess Maleiha Bajunaid Candao hails from the lineage of two royalties-from her paternal and maternal blood. Both parents have royal lineage and Princess Maleiha has pure royal blood among the royalties in the province of Maguindanao. From her mother alone, she has complete royal lineage tracing their roots from the Quarish clan of Saudi Arabia. Born in Cotabato City to Bai Saada Bajunaid Candao and Datu Zacaria Candao, the princess has always exhibited concerns for the underprivileged and downtrodden.
Her father was appointed by the late President Ferdinand Marcos as governor of Maguindanao in 1976. However, few months after, Atty. Datu Zacaria Candao resigned from his post after seeing the massacre of Muslims in the province.
Princess Maleiha's late mother was the only daughter among two brothers to the late Hadji Abdillah Bajunaid and Bai Pinayungan Macmod. Princess Maleiha's maternal grandmother was a pure royal blood from Zapakan town of Maguindanao. The paternal grandmother of Princess Maleiha was a relative of her maternal grandmother.
Being the great great granddaughter of SULTAN MUHAMMAD DIPATUAN KUDARAT, Princess Maleiha come from the direct blood of SULTAN KIBAD SAHRIYAL (1780-1805), also known as Muhammad Azim ud-Din Amir ul-Umara, the 16th Sultan of Maguindanao and the grandson of Sultan Kudarat.
The Princess is also a direct descendant of Shariff Muhammad Kabunsuan.
WORKS
Princess Maleiha is a peace writer and a volunteer of community service for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maguindanao and Cotabato City. She used to edit and publish her community paper, The New MIndanao Kris from 1997 to 2001. Owing to political threats by a ruling family in the province during that time, the printer operator of Princess Maleiha's printing press was forced to leave and the paper had to choice but to shut down.
TRANSFORMATIONAL ACTIVIST
Princess Maleiha is a transformational activist and her strongest advocacies are PEACE AND INTERFAITH CO-EXISTENCE.
ACT NOT RANT
A believer of genuine and committed action for the poor, Princess Maleiha does not join in discussions on social sites that only rant and blame the people in the government. For the Princess, she would rather act on the problem, like poverty, than curse and blame people counter-productively.
