Eye/Hair color graph

[edit]

I just wanted to say your eye and hair color graph was very helpful to me and was just what I was looking for. I'm doing a report on my Italian heritage and I needed a comparison through other European countries. Thanks for uploading it. Nikki88 22:02, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad you're happy with the map. If I were of Italian ancestry, I would like to know the coloration of indigenous Italians. The maps are a great boon to the article since they back up common knowledge about European coloration with hard facts.--DarkTea 01:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Skin Colour Map

[edit]

Hey...When you've got time, can you correct this map?

File:Map of skin hue equi.png

I suck with graphics. Northern Africa shouldnt have the whitest colour (1-12 von Luschan scale). Instead, it should have 12-14 and 15-17 colours. The correct form of map is here: [1] Lukas19 14:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

I feel it's too specific for the main article. Perhaps we can reach a compromise or ask for other people's opinions. Quis custodiet ipsos? 03:42, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the map does not need to have the nationalities on the main Asian article, but the regions should be labeled using the "mouse over" technique. Consequently, your prior maps should be deleted with a speedy delete template for redundancy. Then, the unlabeled maps I used on my templates need to be added to a template where they can be labeled using the "mouse over" technique. Just erase the nationalities on my template and keep the regions. If you don't want to do this, I will do it.--DarkTea 03:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, makes sense. I'll add the templates to the page.Quis custodiet ipsos? 10:46, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can not tell you how racist, elitist and just plain rude and insensitive your recent remarks were regarding the photo of this lovely married couple I photographed. For a person who is ostensibly sensitive to racial issues, I am almost speechless that you would say in your edit, and I quote:

(removed picture of a black man marrying a FAT white woman b/c it is a picture that was added
to try to disparage interracial marriage)--00:59, December 30, 2006 Dark Tichondrias

First of all, this “FAT white woman” is a beautiful lady who has a beautiful face, who also happens to be large. (In fact, the man she married was of ample size as well but doesn’t show as much in the photo.) However, to assume that I added this photo PURPOSELY to “disparage interracial marriage” is grotesquely racist, biased, and not to mention, exceptionally WRONG.

I thoroughly enjoyed being their photographer, they had a lovely wedding on the beach, they made a beautiful couple and I simply added them to this Wiki article because I thought the smiling, close-up view, of their faces illustrated the concept of interracial marriage very well. They are clearly in love, and though they aren’t thin, they clear show as a black & white couple.

I submit that for you to assume that I had any motive other than that, you must look toward your own racial bias against “fat white women” and/or personal preference for thin people and consider if you need to reexam your personal attitudes on this matter.

As for this image you added further down the article, though I do like the photo, I had to remove it because this is not an interracial couple. They are both, in fact, white and don’t illustrate the concept.

Mactographer 03:33, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Should you wish to move or change the photo of the black and white couple again, I will not revert it. But still submit that you need to consider your personal biases in this matter. The white woman in this photo isn't thin, but she's not grotesquely fat either. In fact, I think she has a very pretty face and I think they do a fine job of illustrating the concept of the article. Yet if you can find a better photo to illustrate the topic, you can change the photo as you like with my good wishes.

Etiquette

[edit]

I suggest you read WP:SPADE. It's got nothing to do with etiquette and everything to do with calling a spade a spade. I never said there was anything wrong with being a racist, so it's got nothing to do with etiquette, I made no value judgement. So why is it offensive? It's not as if I randomly chose to call an editor a racist as an attack. Lukas is well known for pushing a racist POV on many articles (he used to be called Thulean, a name with very racist overtones, as you probably know), he's amply shown that he has a racist ideology. I'd suggest that it would be disingeneous in the extreme to act all offended when someone puts the correct name to his ideology. Do you think Lukas is ashamed of his beliefs? I do not get that impression at all, so why should he care? He should be happy to accept this label. I've been called a far-leftist extremist. So what? I accept that my beliefs are considered extreme, but I don't really care, I'm not ashamed of my beliefs, and I openly declare them on my user page. I do this so that when I edit anyone can see what my POV is likely to be on any given subject, it's called declaring an interest, I choose not to hide my biases or prejudices, it would be better if more Wikipedians did this. Profanity

[edit]

I hope young DT that you apply your little scoldings equally. I see no evidence that you have warned young Thulean/Lukas about his use of profanity.[2] I think this has got nothing to do with using swear words and everything to do with you and Lukas's attempts to undermine the integrity of Wikipedia by introducing your nasty racist POV. If you also warn young Lukas by about his swearing then I will retract this comment. But you seem to be biased in your application of Wikipedia policies. Alun 06:13, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The f-word connotes sexual violence and hate. The s-word conjures up disgust and anger. The f-word seems more profane to me, but I see your point.--DarkTea 06:19, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, and I appologise unreservedly. I was angry when I made these posts, and I know I should stay calm and keep cool. I am totally at fault. Thanks for making the point, I will endeavour to keep my cool in future. Alun 06:47, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your Civility

[edit]

Your statement "Please learn English properly" against User:Lukas19 on this edit is against Wikipedia's policy on civility which suggests to not belittle other users due to their language skills or word choice.--DarkTea 01:10, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What? in the edit you point to I tell Lukas to Please learn English properly because in the edit I am responding to he tells me to [learn to read properly. So I make a similar response. It is only a retort to his putdown. Did you check this fact? I suspect not. Alun 01:44, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image in template: Race Income.png?

[edit]

Forgive me. But why is this image in a template? It needs a caption to show the date of the data, I can't seem to get it to work with the template. futurebird 07:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When the picture was outlined with the "thumb" modifier, its vertical length caused it to crach into a picture below it on the Asian American article. To fix this, I overlayed text on the picture to decrease its height.--DarkTea 07:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing rewrite of Asian American

[edit]

As I noted on Talk:Asian American, it would be appreciated as a collaborative gesture if you could provide some discussion, commentary, or statement regarding the substantive edits you are making to the page. None is required as for the numerous citations that you have helpfully provided, but the substance of the article has been significantly changed in parts. Given the volume of the edits you have submitted (>70, I'd guess, in about 2 days), it's hard to follow the substantive edits amid the citations. Thanks for your contributions and consideration. Human Skin Colour Map

[edit]

You made a great job with this map but it is really hard to make out lighter European parts than the other white parts. Maybe you can do something about that? Lukas19 04:54, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The colors were based off the Luschan scale, so colors reflect the observed skin colors. I know the difference between Northern Europe and the next lightest colored region is hard to see, but that is their literal color.--DarkTea 13:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
