About the Desolate Case
[edit]Hi there, Danyunsik. Actually, the ‘desolate case’ is a case, that can be found in some Siberian and Northern Caucasian languages. Also, this case is used in multiple constructed languages (conlangs). Even I was confused, but when I looked it up, I saw that languages like Udi use this case. Other than that, I couldn’t find anything more about it. All I do know is that it is used to show a noun turning into/existing in a state of desolation, abandonment, emotional/physical emptiness and stuff like that. For example, in ‘The ruins were abandoned’, the Desolate Case marker will be given to ‘ruins’. This is an example ChatGPT gave. I hope this clears your doubt! Thank you! - That doesn't seem like a grammatical case, though. Grammatical cases typically reflect relationships between nouns and/or role in the clause, definitely not a specific state. That seems more like derivation, or an adjective. Danyunsik (talk) 08:14, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- https://wschulze.userweb.mwn.de/udinhalt.htm makes no mention of the case whatsoever Danyunsik (talk) 08:30, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, sorry for doing that! My bad! I’ll fix that up as soon as possible. Thank you for informing me! Here, have some spaghetti: Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 01:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm... Then it might be a hypothetical case. I’ll check it out! Sorry if I made you irritated by my persistent replying! Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 09:36, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hmmm... What about Abkhaz, or Siberian languages? Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 14:25, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- What is your primary source for the existence of the case anyway? Danyunsik (talk) 05:04, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Well, my linguist friends told me that it could exist in Abkhaz, and when I asked ChatGPT and Gemini, they said that it is a case used in Siberian languages. So, I’d say my source is my friends. Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 09:13, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Can you ask them what their source is then? Maybe it is real and just very confusing Danyunsik (talk) 13:48, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sure! I’ll ask them. Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 13:51, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I’m very sorry for wasting your time, from my side and my friends. Turns out, they were playing a prank on me... God, I hate them.... they’ve done this before. They said that they pranked me and that this case is in fact made up! I’m once again sorry for wasting your time! Really sorry... Do forgive me... Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 13:54, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Well now make sure to 1. Prank your friends back and 2. Research every claim using sources other than ChatGPT :) Danyunsik (talk) 13:57, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ok! Thanks so much! :) :) :)! Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 14:55, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi again, So, I did prank them, by telling them 2 things :1- that Russian has a Nihikum Tense (shown that an action occurs during a time of chaos, sorrow, anarchy et cetera) and 2- making them read this cursed IPA text (if you can’t read it, you should ask another person how to read this): They could not pronounce it. For the Nihilum Tense, they were shocked and scrambled for sources! It was good, cold REVENGE Thanks, anyways! Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) 09:58, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

Some falafel made by my mom!
[edit]Long-live-ALOPUS (talk) has given you a falafel sandwich! Falafel sandwiches are a specialty of the Middle East. With a little tahini and maybe a spicy sauce, they are delicious and promote WikiLove. Hopefully, this one has added flavor to your day.
Thank you for informing me about the mistake I made! But, I asked ChatGPT multiple times, and it said that it is used in Udi and/or Abkhaz to show a known turning into a state of desolation, abandonment, anarchy, emptiness et cetera. I also spoke to my friend who’s a linguist, and she told me that this could be a hypothetical case! So, I’m still not sure.
Spread the goodness of falafel by adding {{subst:Falafel}} to someone's Talk page with a friendly message! Give a falafel sandwich to someone you've had disagreements with in the past, or to a good friend.
