Princess Louise-Élisabeth of France
[edit]Dear DanyMountbatten, why are you erasing "Marie" from the bio of Princess Louise-Élisabeth of France?[1] Her name was Marie-Louise-Élisabeth de France. AdjustShift (talk) 15:22, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but you don't have to write her "whole" name several times, including the box with her picture. It's enough to write it once in the beginning of the article. DanyMountbatten (talk) 12:08, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Dany Mountbatten: when you remove a picture from an article, why don't you give the reason? How are we to know if the removal is valid or if it is an act of vandalism? You don't seem to ever leave an explanation to your changes & edits. Regards, Frania W. (talk) 17:31, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Frania: I removed the picture because it is NOT Louise Elisabeth d'Orleans. The portrait represents Louise Elisabeth of France, Duchess of Parma, eldest daughter of Louis XV. I'm completely sure about it since I saw the portrait in the Prado Museum and it is the second lady. That's the reason why I removed it. DanyMountbatten (talk) 12:07, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Dany Mountbatten: Then if you had a valid reason to remove the portrait, you should have stated it. No one knew that you had gone to the Prado Museum & verified the identity of the personage. Regards, Frania W. (talk) 13:07, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

DanyMountbatten: When you moved Marie Louise d'Orléans to Princess Marie Louise of Orleans, why did not you explain your reason for the move at the discussion page? Regards, Frania W. (talk) 15:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- And I do not understand why you moved her to her present title either..LouisPhilippeCharles (talk) 22:31, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- I moved her to the other title because there is only one Marie Louise d'/of Orleans, who was Queen of Spain. In this way users cannot confuse her with other princesses with the same name. DanyMountbatten (talk) 18:47, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Why did you move the article? Her surname, as the daughter of a king of France is *de France*. One does not Anglicise a surname. See explanation on the talk page. -- Jack1755 (talk) 22:35, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Margaret Theresa
[edit]Hello! Of course "Infanta Margarita Teresa" is more common; it includes books in Spanish! However, only English-language boks are relevant. Spain "Margaret Theresa" gets twice as much as Spain "Margarita Teresa" (Spain is here to ensure that the results are in English). Surtsicna (talk) 06:44, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry for my late reply. That depends: if you try "Margarita Teresa of Spain" and "Margaret Theresa of Spain", the first one has more results. If you try "Infanta Margarita Teresa" Spain and "Infanta Margaret Theresa" Spain, still the first one gets more results. Personally, I think it should be Margarita Teresa because: 1) several important academic publications call her like that (although others also use Margaret Theresa, of course); 2)it's easier for an English-speaking person to associate the name "Margarita Teresa" to this little princess than "Margaret Theresa", because in the second case it may be mistaken for another Margaret. DanyMountbatten (talk) 12:00, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Danny, I'm not sure where you get your numbers. Margaret Theresa of Spain (43) obviously gets more results than Margarita Teresa of Spain (33). Could you please cite some important academic publications that call her Margarita Teresa? I do not understand your last argument; was there any other notable Margaret Theresa? I would prefer Margaret Theresa not only because it is more common, but also because the German form of her name is Margareta Theresa and that name is not unused. She was a Habsburg and married to a Habsburg, an empress of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. I'm neither German nor Spanish, though, I don't know whow she is called in those languages today. Surtsicna (talk) 18:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Surtsicna, as for the numbers it's strange but yesterday I got different results. Important academic publications that call her "Margarita Teresa": "The Habsburgs: portrait of a dynasty" by Edward Crankshaw, "Vienna and Versailles: the courts of Europe's dynastic rivals" by Jeroen Duindam, "The glorification of emperor Leopold I in image, spectacle and text" by Maria Goloubeva, "Spain under the Habsburgs: Spain and America 1598-1700" by John Lynch, "Die Frauen der Habsburger" by Hellmut Andics, just to name a few. Yes, she was a Habsburg but a Spanish Habsburg married to an Austrian Habsburg. Her name in Spanish is Margarita, that's how she was called in her lifetime and that's how she was referred to in contemporary letters. In fact her name was Margarita Maria, not Margarita Teresa, but later authors started to call her like that (I don't know why). Another fact is that sometimes she is called simply Margarita, without Teresa or Maria. I understand that you would prefer the English version of her name, that's fine but then we would have to change all the names of royalty into English (and many of them are known by their names in their original language). Deleting unsourced quotes
[edit]Thank you for helping to improve Wikipedia's historical accuracy and reputation by examining and removing the innumerable unsourced or under-sourced quotes offering the most personal, and sometimes the most extreme, opinions about royalty without adequate documentation. Please keep up the good work. FactStraight (talk) 22:52, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
