Importance assessment for WikiProject Novels

[edit]

Hey! Saw that you tried to assess the importance of Detransition, Baby. The criteria for importance can be found at: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Novels/Assessment#Importance_scale -- note that for WikiProject Novels: importance is assessed against the canon, and persistence of the topic in the broader field of literature. If a topic is important for a sub-theme or genre, but not historically ground-breaking, it would be mid-importance, Sadads (talk) 19:56, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for that remark! However, I am a bit confused.. what are we actually rating here? On the page you sent it says "importance [is] meant to be a probable indication of how significant the topic is to a reader of literature, and how likely it would be covered in a serious encyclopedia". The book treats universal human topics, such as love and parenthood from the perspective of trans and other non-genderconforming people, which may be regarded as historically ground-breaking, as these perspectives are really rare to non-existent in the literary canon. As it was furthermore a bestseller which already was or will be translated into numerous languages, I think the significance to readers and thus the likelihood for coverage in an encyclopedia ahould (at least) be rated "high" than "mid". Would you agree with that? Danx de Mais (talk) 07:54, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
