Capitalization of headings
[edit]The Wikipedia style for capitalizing headings is to use "sentence case" instead of "title case", e.g.,
- Important things to know about this subject
not:
- Important Things to Know About This Subject
This may be unfamiliar to many editors who believe that or have been taught that "title case is the right way to capitalize headings". It isn't the "right way", it is one style. Wikipedia has, for better or worse, chosen to follow a different style, i.e., capitalize the heading the same way you would capitalize any sentence:
- capitalize the first word,
- capitalize any proper nouns (people, places, organizations), and
- begin all other words with lower case letters.
See WP:MSH for more information. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 21:36, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Alison King
[edit]Hi there. Do you have a reference for King's daughter's name? I have had to remove it a few times over the past few days because it has been reported as both Sarah Louise and Daisy, and since both can't be correct, it shouldn't really be added to the article without a reference. - Reply: That's cool, it's just that people have been known to use Wikipedia as a reference point and as such, things like that shouldn't be added without confirmation. I would've been like you, and just corrected what already existed there, but there's no way of knowing for sure without a reference whether the name is Sarah Louise, Daisy, or something else entirely! I even read somewhere that she'd named the baby Carla (although I'm guessing that was a fan of Corrie just hoping!). If you do find a reference and would like me to add it, please leave me a message and let me know, I'll be happy to put it in :). Best wishes. Sky83 (talk) 13:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
