RSPB Minsmere

Dan, thanks for your edits to Minsmere, much appreciated. I might add a note to explain booming though, since there is nothing to link it too. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:18, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Sure, that works. - Dank (push to talk) 18:15, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Did you run into trouble? No worries either way... price of my ongoing lack of engagement. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:25, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Good to hear from you. We have two new coords, and I'm not scheduling, just writing blurbs and responding at WP:ERRORS. Yes, we ran into trouble, and (don't quote me) I think the coords decided to simplify their lives, at least for November and December. So far this month, things have gone well. - Dank (push to talk) 14:48, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
OK good stuff. Thanks for everything you do and have done round here. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:25, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators/XVIII Tranche Project Audit. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Dank. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Invitation to join the Ten Year Society

Dear Dank/Archive 59,

I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Ten Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for ten years or more.

Best regards, Chris Troutman (talk) 06:30, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Looks like harmless fun! I'll think about it, I've got a lot on my plate today. - Dank (push to talk) 14:30, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Der 100. Psalm

Thank you for trimming a monster. Two concerns. We need to avoid a line break for D major. One option is to not link and say D major. Also, it reads - with the cut - as if it was never performed in Jena, and I have no solution for that ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:45, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

Added nbsp. There's no room to list additional performances, unless we get rid of something else, IIRC. - Dank (push to talk) 14:50, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Is there room for "Ein feste Burg" after cantus firmus, provided the article gets better? The Marseillaise of the Reformation by a Catholic composer is much more interesting than some of the conventional stuff ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:35, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
How's that? - Dank (push to talk) 15:41, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, I simplified it a bit, and the end also. Happy, - it's on my mom's birthday, DYK ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:41, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Looks good. Please give her my birthday wishes. - Dank (push to talk) 17:11, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

Copy editing

Hiya Dan, long time no talk! Hope you're keeping well. I was hoping I could hijack your talk page (or you can hijack mine if you prefer) for some general discussion of copy editing and prose reviewing at FAC and A class. I want to put together a page that lists some of the common prose flaws I see and I wondered if you already had one (in a sandbox, scribbled on a piece of paper, in your mind) so we can compare. I'm beginning to see your point on "however"; I like to think I use it carefully and sometimes nothing else will do but from reviewing it seems it's used much more widely than it needs to be. I've also come across a lot of uses of "with" to join two halves of a sentence ("with reviewers describing it as..." etc) and "subsequently", which can be read to imply a logical connection between two events where there isn't one. Any thoughts? Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:01, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Thinking deep thoughts, Harry, give me a day or two. - Dank (push to talk) 14:47, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
No worries. It's noting time critical! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:16, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
All my time is going into another linguistics project ... which might possibly be of interested to A-class and FAC writers, but isn't aimed at them. It's still in the early stages, but I'll have something for you soon. - Dank (push to talk) 19:15, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Happy Saturnalia!

Heh, is that what they're doing? Best of the holidays! - Dank (push to talk) 14:07, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
