Hi
[edit]Hey -- you should put something on your Userpage. When your name shows up in red, it appears as though you are a novice (even if you are, I'm sure you have some small bit of info to share with us, such as your city of residence or favorite color). Speedy deletion of Kalman Epstein
[edit]A tag has been placed on Kalman Epstein requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Wheelchair Epidemic (talk) 18:33, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know that a consensus discussion is underway about changing Shlom bayit to Shalom bayit. Please add your opinion at Talk:Shlom bayit#Requested move. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 23:40, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello, Daniel. Regarding your changes here, which I am sure the rabbis are quite respected etc. etc., what you've done is pure original research. You've been around here long enough to know that your research into which sforim sought out whose haskama and who appeared out of alphabetical order are not appropriate for this encyclopedia. If the New York Times, or even the Yated, published a piece in which they called these guys "respected" etc., we would be able to cite to that. Failing that, why not just stick to reciting facts and leave the hagiography for the blogs? -- Y not? 15:01, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, Y. Thank you for the the comments. I'm not sure what to do at this point: I can't simply state that Rabbi Epstein is considered to be a Gadol, because that statement lacks support. However, you are saying that I am also not allowed to demonstrate that he is viewed as a Gadol, unless I can find a book or article that says so explicitly. I think that, where something is very implicit, it would not be considered original research. For example, if a U.S. President was reelected with over 99% of the popular vote, it would be fair to cite that as evidence that he was very popular. Danielb613 (talk) 15:43, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, essentially, Wikipedia can only cite to secondary sources, but not analyze primary sources and reach a conclusion. That's the job of the biographer, the historian and the journalist. Not our job. I'll strike the hagiography and stick to facts, if you don't mind. -- Y not? 18:17, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
All right - thank you.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
