Right - let's start

[edit]

Firstly - I have the statistical profiles (Basic Community Profile 2001, Time Series Profile 1991-2001, Working Population Profile 2001, National Regional Profile 2000-2004) for every LGA in the Wheatbelt and Midwest regions, as well as every CCD within them. The 1976 Census at the Battye gives us an extension to the time series stuff - I have full itemised information on every Campion shire plus some on Lakes and Williams, and 1971 is not too difficult to get. I also have the populations of every shire from 1911 to 2001 (is 2006 an official release? have to check), and some town populations over 1971-1981 from yearbooks. All sources are official publications (ABS or yearbooks based on ABS) and hence RS. I want to get a 1901 census too but that's not essential, and perhaps not even entirely relevant to Campion as most areas didn't even exist at that time in a population sense.

Where to start? Firstly we have our list of Campion shires on the main page (I'm going to be bold and add the Lakes ones as there's only 4 and they're fairly small ones - and the division between them is fairly artificial anyway). What I'm going to do is try and figure out where each originated from going back to the 18 road districts and 6 gazetted municipalities gazetted in 1871. We have population stats but not much else going back, so I might see if we can improve on that. So we'll have history sections for each shire, a complete demographic profile accounting for changes from 1976 to 2001 (and 2006 when it lands in July), and some economic indicators from the NRP. The AgStats stuff you sent me will be useful for Corrigin and for the GVAP numbers for each shire. I'm also going to hammer away at the CCD's to try and make the profiles more complete. Once I've done that, I can go onto some of the towns and set them up, and then you can fill in whatever you want on those. Once you are done we can try and do some further sourcing and bring in the WA crew. That should be in April. I'd like to see 28 B-class articles out of this, with several going towards peer review -> FA (we'll skip GA if they're good enough to go)

Politics - will do larger towns only. Aside from the major town in each shire we should do the following (possibly as full town articles) as they have significant numbers (i.e. >100) of voters. I have 1986-2005 state for all of these, and can easily get 1977-1983, likewise I have 1993-2004 fed and can easily get 1984-1990.

  • Beacon (Mt Marshall)
  • Hyden (Kondinin)
  • Kununoppin (Trayning)
  • Newdegate (Lake Grace)

We have the slight problem of no images whatsoever. I'll leave it to you to contact the tourist boards and/or shire councils, I'm sure they'll be glad to do whatever we say if it means bringing their town to a wider audience (important to emphasise to them this is *not* promotion). They may also be able to help with sources and with checking the articles. Orderinchaos78 10:14, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Task List

[edit]

Initial actions

[edit]

For entire Wheatbelt region:

  • Complete all remaining shires (entire Wheatbelt) to basic standard
  • Standardise already done towns per Aldersyde or Mukinbudin
  • Create stubs for redlink towns
  • Politics sections for hub towns
  • Review above for consistency before proceeding.

As the actions are so similar in type, it's better to keep going for the entire Wheatbelt to help us later on when we get to the point of upgrading other regions.

Next actions

[edit]

For the Campion-Lakes shires only:

  1. Get history section of 14 shires completed, and put in population table.
  2. Demographics sections and whatever you can make sense out of National Regional Profile.

meanwhile I shall build up history and other stuff offline and then I can upload it when you're done DanielT5 11:40, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
