sorry for late response. I have been pretty busy. I didn't mean to revert your edits on Saddam Hussein. About 2 days ago, There were many Wikipedians try to add more informations about his execution, and then try to improve the article by changing in their own words. Anyways, I reverted this because your edits contains what each person was saying during Hussein's execution. Most of the article doesn't need what person's saying which means their conversation. Hi again Daniel! Meetups happen whenever enough people decide to have one. I have only gone to one so far (Wikipedia:Meetup/Santa Barbara) -- it was a lot of fun, but there were only two of us. Main page

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but I'll try to answer it anyway :) The Main page is kind of like a summary, or newspaper front page as you say. It details current world events (like Saddams execution), and provides a place for Featured Content to be showcased to the readers of Wikipedia, among other things. Some people refer to the Main page as a Portal to Wikipedia's large base of content. If you have a question or comments relating to the Main Page, you can ask it here. Bureaucrats

Are essentially admins who have been given two additional tools. They can promote admins, and they can mark an editor as a bot (so it doesn't show up when someone has asked there watchlist or recent changes list not to show bot edits). You know, i recall no instance of vandalizing an article. You know how when you forget to login and you may have a different IP adress than when the last time you forgot to login well it is just like that when you forget to login and somebody vandalizes a page with your IP and guess what?...You end up getting blamed for it! Text editors

Mozex is an extension for Firefox/Mozilla that lets you use external programs for different things, and in particular for editing. It works for Windows, Linux, or Mac. With Mozex, you open a page for editing, and then right-click in the text area and select 'use external editor.' Then Mozex feeds the text to your editor of choice - Windows Notepad, Vim, or whatever. You make your edits and save, then go back to the browser and Mozex pastes the edit into the edit window. I have not used Mozex for several months, but I remember it being pretty good. There is more at the link on my user page.

As you say, Vim is a text editor, like Notepad. Vim is mostly used by Unix/Linux guys, but is available for Windows, Mac, and most other operating systems. Vim is very powerful and fully script-able, but it is not very intuitive and has a steep learning curve, and I think it works best in conjunction with the utilities found on a Unix system. I use it and like it, but unless you are specifically interested in Unix/Linux, you might want to think about learning Emacs instead. It is as powerful as Vim, has a built in Lisp interpreter, and is popular among math guys. It has quite a few different editing modes for special purposes, including editing Wikipedia. Both Vim and Emacs, and most other good text editors, have Syntax highlighting, which is just great. Cream (Vim) is another thing I want to look at when I get time.

Separate from Mozex, the software that runs Wikipedia has a feature that lets you use an external editor directly. I think this will work from Windows, but I have only used it with Linux, and do not know how to set it up for anything else. It works perfectly most of the time, but fails mysteriously on a few pages.

Linux, as you know, is an operating system. I use the Debian distribution and only rarely edit from a Windows system. For desktop use, Ubuntu is excellent. If I were installing a new Linux system for a Desktop, I would use Ubuntu. It comes with a live CD, so you can try it out without installing anything. Hi, Wikinight. I'm really sorry to bother you ask this question. As I enjoy reverting all vandalisms on many articles, I saw many wikipedian use TWINKLE to revert into last version. In my opinion, Twinklekuff is very similar to Popups. Reason I asked you question about Twinkle is that I haven't seen new tools for reverting vandalism. I usually use Javascript to enjoy reverting all vandals. Have you ever used Twinkle before when you revert vandalism on many articles? Anyways, Could you please explain a bit about Twinkle? Sorry, I haven't used it. One of the sysop tools I use is a Rollback button at the top of every diff and history page. Sorry I can't tell you much about TWINKLE. I've seen it referenced quite a bit myself - I may have to investigate. —Wknight94 (talk) 04:49, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Salt.js

Salt.js doesn't replace the monobook.js, which I think may be the cause of your confusion. It's much like User:Lupin/popups.js which you've got in your monobook, a script that can be placed into the monobook.js. The block is anonymous-only and was imposed after these vandalism edits as a preventative measure. I along several admins who patrol WP:AIV regularly schoolblock IPs of K-12 schools for 6 months at a time since our experience shows that 95% of edits originating from such schools are pure vandalism. --  Netsnipe  ►  07:11, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Block on Open Proxies

Yes, there is a reason behind it. Simply because an IP is an open proxy now does not mean it always will be. To steal Centrx's words, it's because "most IPs are no longer open proxies after so long a time. TUPjs.js

Hi. The TUPjs script is called by the line "importScript('User:HighInBC/TUPjs.js');" in my monobook.js. It is on its own page just to keep it out of the way.

I have a script that finds temporary userpages that need deleting or removing from the category and then open up the right window in the browser. The script also adds an extra parameter to the query string to trigger my script. In short it removes categories and fills in edit summaries and hits the preview button. ^High_InBC^{(Need help? Main page images

Hi. Main page images, as well as everything else that appears on the main page are protected because of their high visibility. If they were not protected, they would very likely be vandalised, that is, someone would upload a different file (a shock image, for example) over the correct image. re: Regex.js

Hello Daniel. regex.js is a JavaScript file which is transcluded in a skin file. This makes it easier to edit, and allows other users to transclude it as well. For example, see the following code in monobook.js:
