Featured Articles
[edit]Hi Daniel,
Creating a featured article is really hard, so don't be discouraged when people "object" to your articles. Keep up the good work on Wikipedia. By the way, if you are interested in bears (I think you nominated the Brown Bear article), you should check out these grizzly bear pictures: http://www.naturespicsonline.com/Nature18/index.htm. This fellow is a great photographer and allows his photos to be uploaded to Wikipedia as well. You might want to try that if you're interested. –Outriggr § 00:43, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the pictures, Outriggr. They're great. Daniel10 12:21, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes!

Hi There!
[edit]Hi Daniel! I am Kevin Ray N. Chua, a high-school student in the Philippines. I would like to be friends with you and I know that we are still young but no one can hinder us to be in Wikipedia right?
I am creating an article about our school. I am amazed by your personality here in Wikipedia and I hope that we can help each other.
Nice meeting!
Sorry I haven't answered yet, I would like to be friends with you. I have made two articles about Zoo Tycoon 2, Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species and Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure. Daniel10 09:52, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Thakyou for telling me, but I am doing the best I can. I have also been editing tycoon computer game articles a lot. Daniel10 11:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
The support votes on this page are very suspicious. User:TriceraGuy, User:KangarooFan1, User:Zooyak and User:Monster1000 all signed up today and immediately started supporting this image. Do you know these people? Asking friends to sign up and support your image, or creating multiple accounts yourself to support the image, is strictly forbidden by the sockpuppet policy. No!! I don't!!!!!!!!!! Daniel10 12:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Please, I know you would like this image to become featured but this is not the way to go about it. All four of those users signed up and immediately supported your nomination. They are either you or people you know. You must stop doing this. Raven4x4x 12:49, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Making a featured article - collaborating
[edit]Hey Daniel, I think a good way of going about making a Featured article is by collaboration. It is really amazing when 3-4 people are editing away on the same topic. Really breaks through writer's block. I note that on your talk page your favourite mammal is the Red panda, which has alot of the groundwork done already. Why not drop a note on Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals to see if anyone else is interested?
Many wikiprojects have collaborations - Wikipedia:WikiProject_Dinosaurs has dino collaboration which has yielded a few featured articles so far. mammals doesn't have one yet but maybe you could motivate them into doing so. cheers Cas Liber 05:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Minor edits
[edit]Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! —Psychonaut 11:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- It appears that you have checked the box "Mark all edits minor by default", at the Editing tab, on the "my preferences" page (see link at upper right of screen). Please uncheck that box. Thanks. John Broughton | Talk 19:20, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Sockpuppet query
[edit]Are you a sockpuppet of any other users on Wikipedia? Have you created accounts for the purpose of adding more votes to discussions? As a friendly reminder, you are not permitted to use sockpuppets for the purpose of trying to add more weight to one side of a dispute or discussion.
Thanks, Yuser31415 20:13, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Your guinea pig userbox
[edit]I moved your guinea pig userbox from template space into your userspace per WP:UM. It's now available at User:Daniel10/GuineaPig although the old link may continue to work for awhile (I nominated it for speedy deletion since it redirects to a user space page). Cheers --frothT C 07:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm requesting a move of the userbox back to the userspace mainspace per the above. Please don't make actions despite discussion, other users might still use your template through it's new address. Michaelas10 (Talk) 12:14, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Requests for Animal Userboxes
[edit]If you want to request any animals userboxes for me to make, then say so here. Daniel10 12:19, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
There is a guideline you might not be aware of, WP:GUS, also known as "the great userbox migration". Part of this is that "unencyclopedic" userboxes, such as a user's favorite animals, should be moved to some place in "User space". A corollary to that is that new unencyclopedic userboxes should be created in user space, not the main template space. Please consider creating your new userboxes in a location like User:Daniel10/Userboxes/SomeNewAnimal, and not in the template space like Template:User SomeNewAnimal. —Dgiest c 16:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Addendum - In case there is any confusion, moving userboxes into your userspace has no effect on the ability of other people to use them. People can still include your userboxes by typing
{{User:Daniel10/Userboxes/SomeNewAnimal}}

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:BlueWhaleHallAndOthers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

License tagging for Image:Rpanda.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Rpanda.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:12, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Pageimage-DDPack.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Pageimage-DDPack.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:25, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I have tagged Image:Pageimage-DDPack.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. BigrTex 16:35, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Announcement
[edit]Hello! I'm The Arbiter, one of the coordinators for WikiProject Zoo. I am proud to announce the launch of a new portal: Portal:Zoos and Aquariums! ZooPro, ZooFari, and I worked hard to create a new portal for information on zoos, aquariums, and the associated projects and articles on Wikipedia. If you could head on over, take a look at our work, and maybe learn some more about zoos and Wikiproject Zoo, it would be great! Cheers and Happy Editing!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
