G'day Daniel. And thanks for the barnstar! It's an honour to finally get one from a fellow Aussie! = )
And for all the times I've been insulted by vandals and trolls I decided to make a new userbox today. Feel free to use it, otherwise you can delete this off your talk page if you don't appreciate the humour.
Cheers,

- Added to main page. I like it :P Killfest2 07:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know in the future, you were right on the first revert. Definate aol vandalbot edits. Kevin_b_er 07:19, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, I'm rushing to keep up with the AOL vandal, an that caused my error. I was about to fix it up but you beat me to it. Thanks! And make sure you report him/her on the AIV pge as well. Killfest2 07:21, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have added an hopefully effective header to the top of this page to stop people talking about matches and headbutting and who knows what else is not related to the actual article. Because these comments are not about the Wikipedia article, I propose that the archive is irrelevant to the article and should be just deleted, along with other, recent comments. —Centrx→talk • 07:24, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to do that, but then realised that things cold turn bad quickly if I just deleted it with no concensus. Thanks! Killfest2 07:25, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great video shot! And thanks, it led me to youtube.com. How do we transfer videos on our front pages from Youtube? thanks Politis 13:49, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm not sure - I didn't do it. See here to ask, and you might get an answer. If not, go and ask the submitter on how he did it. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant (aka Killfest2) 23:59, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd appreciate you explaining why you reverted my edits? I was merely updating old information http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:59.167.223.61
With regards to the Hack program on Triple J, see here - http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hack/default.htm - for confirmation that Kate O'Toole is the new host. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.167.223.61 (talk • contribs)
- Wow...*Looks to see if it is Pauline Hanson*
- Anyways, I accept your point. However, there is a reason to explain my actions: you didn't reference the changes at the bottom. I realise I'm in error, but just to help avoid these kind of situations in the future, make sure you reference. Also, using the "edit summary" box to explain your edits is a pretty good idea too. Feel free to revert my edits with my apologies, and I'll go delete the warning off your talk page. Apologies. Daniel.Bryant (aka Killfest2) 06:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I joined very shortly after joining Wikipedia and after about 20 proper edits (maybe less). You just have to add yourself to the list and then try and help out where you can. There is no vetting of participants really. However I would say that I decided to stop mediating for the time being till I get a more respected presence here. You'll notice it does count, some of the med's have a presence all over wikipedia and users in mediation discussions will often recognise a user that they have met and liked before - so the discussion goes better! It's all a matter of trust and likability.
If you want to become a mediator thats cool because its the sort of tasks (like wikifying or copyediting etc) that are essential to wikipedia but can also be the most tiresome! (although often the most rewarding too). I'd advise you to join, take a few cases (say one or two a month at most) and see how it goes. As you gain experience and respect so it will become easier and more enjoyable to mediate - then you can take on all the cases at once and be swamped... *sigh*
Anyway thats just my opinion, I hope you decide to join the medcab! (I have to say I saw you joined VP and that reminded me to apply)
Cheers! -- Errant talk(formerly tmorton166) 08:35, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- So I can just nominate myself to help out, or does someone else (like you) need to nominate me? Daniel.Bryant (aka Killfest2) 08:37, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- No you just add yourself to the list, then when you see a case you want to try mediating just reply in the mediators response box and change the category (as per instructions on the talk page) to 'open cases'.
- Probably your best bet is to take a look through 10 or so of the current mediations going on (and maybe some of the closed ones) to get an idea of how to proceed with a mediation.
- The best advice I can give you is to lay down ground rules for participants as son as you reply to their request. Make up a list of rules that they have to abide by - true you cant make them as it is an open discussion but at least they will be warned! Also make sure you post notices on all of the involved users talk pages and on the article page requesting their response and asking them to stop editing the article (if that is the problem of course). Make sure all participants (or at least the 2 main ones) have replied before starting the discussion proper.
- Also (and this is the boring bit) read up all of the edit comments, the article, talk page discussion etc. that has so far been going on to get the full background or they will lose faith in you if you miss something during your analysis.
- Finally never tell them what to do with the article, make sure they know it is "our unbiased opinion that the best way to proceed so that all parties are happy is..." then they are more likely to take your advice.
- Oh and finally finally, never take sides, its not easy to remain impartial but if a user is being annoying and obtuse it doesn't necessairily mean their wrong (I made that mistake). Try to find a solution that everyone is happy with and meets them all halfway (sically encourage them to compromise) - unless it is the case where one side is definitely and irrovocably (??) correct and the other side isn't...
- If you need any help with a med case then I will be happy to sit in and help, let me know when you take your first case and I'lll drop in and see how it goes for you :D. I dont mediate at the moment as I cant get regular enough net access to make it easy ( and as I said before I'm building up community respect too) but I will still be around for intermittent advice...
- Although to be fair I am not much more of an experienced wikipedian than you are (only joined in march) but sometimes it helps to get a 3rd opinion :D :D catch you later.. -- Errant talk(formerly tmorton166) 08:52, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for all the advice. I'll just sit back and see how it works for maybe a week or two, and then I'll "dive in", so to speak. Thanks for all the help! Killfest2 11:06, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have to:
- Select prefs, clear the Nickname field completely
- Copy the code as is within the Nickname box
- Check the raw-sigs radio button
- Save prefs

Removed the section as it's role as evidence in the banning of an IP (212.219.191.135) is now finished. If you really want to see stupidity personafied, click here. Killfest2 12:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, and an alternate biography, written by the IP's who I've crossed on RC patrol, can be found here. Killfest2 12:39, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi, I know you've only been editing Wikipedia for a little over a month, but this might be a good time for you to review the Wikipedia civility policy. I think you'll agree that describing various talk page participants' remarks as a "collation of stupidity" runs afoul of that policy. This is just a friendly recommendation of prudent behavior. 64.198.252.184 03:57, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I disagree. I have no respect for vandals who brandish me with such ridiculous remarks, and neither does the rest of the community. Also, where did I say "collation of stupidity"? And, even more so, if all you are going to do by coming here is try and discredit me, I will remove your future comments - it is quite obvious that your sole agenda on this page is to criticize me, which is fine, however having this primary intention only isn't acceptable. Killfest2 04:02, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Whatever your own personal feelings may be, it is an official policy of the Wikipedia. Whether or not you personally have respect for "vandals" (although a review of the Nadale exchange betrays this characterization), you are expected as a Wikipedia community member to conduct yourself cordially. I am afraid I must insist that calling fellow Wikipedians' remarks on your talk page a "collation of stupidity" (see three paragraphs above for the instance*) simply fails to conform with the expected standard of discourse. Please reconsider. 64.198.252.184 04:09, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Civility is only present where it is due. We, as RC patrollers, are instructed to remove vandalism, as we do not want it on Wikipedia. Therefore, by this action, we are basically saying "no, your views are not accepted on Wikipedia". Also, I would like to draw your attention to a certain, administrator-sanctioned page, called bad jokes or other nonsense. Surely calling someone's edits "nonsense" is basically the same as what I did above, and yet...oh, look at that...Maveric149, administrator, member of the Arbitration Committee - only one of 14 - created and sanctioned it. Give up trying to discredit me. Killfest2 04:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Daniel, to make the project work, civility is to be maintained no matter what the circumstance. Calling an edit "nonsense" can be construed as a personal attack. Along those lines in RC patrolling, Do not insult the vandals and Do not feed the trolls. You have a great contribution history, but you do have some policy to read over. Happy editing to you, contact me any time. Teke 04:28, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Finally, someone knows how to bring up a criticism - portray both sides. I understand that, but what of the bad jokes or other nonsense page - should they be renamed to prevent them being a technical violation of the civility policy? Just a question... Killfest2 04:31, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- The problem is, they're fish that bite...thanks for all the tips, and I'll remember to remember to AGF in the future...hopefully. Killfest2 05:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
New south wales are going to beat south australia at the next cricket match, care to wager against? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Komodo123 (talk • contribs)
- I follow neither - even though I've only ever lived there for the first 8 months of my life, I was born in Queensland, the Sunshine State, and that's who I support in everything except AFL (I hate the Lions, and <3 the Swans). However, I will wager one barnstar that NSW wins. Killfest2 12:06, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the barnstar! I need a favor, but first you have to answer this: Do you know anything about the "Macedonia name issue"? If not, then don't search around to find info, just do me the favor and read Macedonia (terminology) to see if you understand the whole issue comprehensively. There's a debate whether "uninformed readers" will grasp the whole idea over at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Macedonia (terminology). After you read it, you can vote there accordingly... :NikoSilver: 12:03, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll read up on it for you :D Killfest2 12:04, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Read up on it, judged the article, and it seems to meet all features needed for FA. I'll add a longer blurb on the bit about "uniformed readers" later for you. Killfest2 12:15, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Were you really totally unaware of the issue? If yes, then please state so, below User:HRE's comment. Thanks. :NikoSilver: 13:20, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- No, I was well aware of the issue, but after reading the article, I'm now well aware. I think it is very well written considering the fact it could be a contraversial topic, and for this, as well as fufilling the guidelines, it deserves FA status. Killfest2 23:36, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seems we have a problem... I saw your note on User talk:Rattle1337 about how his edit was out of line and then you chastised me for making unfair assumptions. Well, guess what, Google the name of the guy listed on his user page in combination with Elonka and you will see that they are friends. He most certainly should not be editing that article, and with his lack of edit history it's all but certain he is a meat puppet.
But what is odd is that after I reverted back to the better version of that article, User:Can't sleep, clown will eat me came along and reverted it and protected the page... This sort of action is not at all how things have been done here, as protected pages are only for cases of real vandalism and for continuing ones. It appears that this guy is making some very poor decisions and ought to be overruled... furthermore that person's talk page is locked so I could not communicate with him directly about it. If he's already protecting the page after a quick exchange of edits, especially for something that is not vandalism related, he is way, way beyond acceptable behavior. 172.144.114.109 06:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I will alert him of your comment here. Killfest2 06:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, by the way, meat puppet? Excuse my ignorance, but what is that? Like a sockpuppet, I'm guessing... Killfest2 06:28, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Meat puppet is in the sockpuppet policy, it's explained right there. 172.144.114.109 06:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- It should be noted that this person has been stalking Elonka's edits for quite some time now. Please use appropriate discussion pages before removing large portions of encyclopedic content. Thanks, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:29, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Dude, WTF? Stalking? Where did you get that from? The important part here is that YOU VIOLATED POLICY by improperly protecting the page for no valid reason. You can't just break the rules whenever you want. People do not need to use the discussion pages for simple edits like this, and I don;t get your attitude at all here. Please unprotect the page and start following the policies you are supposedly here to enforce. 172.144.114.109 06:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- It has been brought to my attention that you have been stalking her and her edits using a series of semi-static 172 AOL IP addresses. If another administrator wishes to overturn my decision for any reason, I am completely fine with that. Until then, please use the talk page to discuss unilateral redirects and major content removals. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- It has been brought to your attention... uh, ok, so, any edits involving a person immediately becomes stalking in your mind? All I did was make a series of related edits on a few related pages yesterday, because the same problems were found on multiple pages (i.e. Elonka added herself/had a friend add her to a number of articles inappropriately). How on earth this can be considered stalking is beyond me. Irregardless of this strange little stalking idea you've cooked up/someone came up with, the policies involved here do not allow you to take the steps you have. "Semi protection is only for vandalism." per the policy itself. Apparently you just jump to conclusions on your own and decide to break policies whenever an accusation of stalking is made even without anything to support it. Interesting. 172.144.114.109 07:00, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- 172.144.114.109, if you really want to take this further, please post here. Killfest2 06:38, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- He's clearly broken the semiprotection policy -- you'd think you would want the policy followed even if you had to step in yourself. You don't feel any sort of obligation to make sure the rules are followed here? 172.144.114.109 07:00, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Take it to the page mentioned above. Killfest2 07:03, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- At my Gmail account? It hasn't shown up yet... :'( Killfest2 06:53, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Just as a note of context, the set of anon vandal edits involved probably has to do with a popular cyberculture webcast called "Binary Revolution". I was a co-host on the program this week, and talked (very supportively, imho) about Wikipedia [1]. However, evidently as an unfortunate result, there's been an increase in anonymous attention/vandalism on all of the BinRev-related articles, such as: Binary Revolution, Stankdawg, Strom Carlson, Black Ratchet, Digital DawgPound, my own bio, Elonka Dunin, and even the page of my high school. I'll admit that some of the vandalism edits are clever, such as by blanking an article to turn it into a redirect, while using an edit summary of "reverting to last good version".[2] But they're vandalism nonetheless, with some social engineering attacks thrown in. --Elonka 07:11, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for the heads-up. Luckily, I don't look at edit summaries before I look at the actual edit, so that can't fool me :D Killfest2 07:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel:
Your name popped up as a "defender of justice" against an IP address that's currently involved in a reversion war going on at Inuyasha media and release information. I have not had a lot of support/questions/comments on the page and I'm a newbie, but I'd appreciate it if someone could check it out. This user appparently does the same-type edits/reversions on other anime titles as well prompting me to find your warning on their talk page. It would be nice if someone would be able to keep my hard work from being removed. Thank you! DJLon 15:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep reverting my post? Ph.D does stand for Pizza Hut Delevery. Thank you very much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.151.171 (talk • contribs)
- Three reasons:
- * The obvious one - it obviously doesn't mean Pizza Hut Delivery
- * It is advertising, and to do this you are blanking a perfectly good page
- * Your edits violate a large number of Wiki policies, and you didn't use an edit summary to explain these mass-edits.
- Rather than take my word for it, let the administrators decide. Killfest2 06:12, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it looks like you have the wrong license for Image:Valentin Ivanov Red Card.jpg and Image:Viduka Tackle.jpg. You used {{newspapercover}} but the license only covers images that show a newspaper article or a cover in its entirety. And fair use is only valid when you're using it to discuss the newspaper itself, not what's in the article. In any case, for copyrighted images like this, you have to provide a fair use rationale, which you haven't, and news photos generally aren't allowed on Wikipedia anyway.
I'm going to remove it from the pages it's used in but let me know if you have any questions. Ytny 06:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- So we can't scan them in then crop the text out? Because that was my interpretation of the "newspaper cover" tag... Whatever, delete them. Killfest2 06:45, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Pretty much, yes. The license applies to pictures of newspapers, not pictures from newspapers. I think you can still present a fair use rationale for the Viduka pic though, since one could argue that you need the photo to illustrate the "rugby tackle". But you need to provide detailed source information for the picture (i.e. photo agency/photographer the copyright belongs to, the issue of the newspaper it was published in, etc). Ytny 06:58, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Also, please note that Image:Materazzi.jpg is not a promotional photograph. The page clearly says "all rights reserved" at the bottom and there is no specific instructions to use it for promotional purposes. Ytny 07:05, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- All right, I reckon the Ivanov one can go, but I'll see what I can do with the Viduka one. Also, I don't know why you mentioned the Materazzi one on my talk page, as I didn't submit it - the only thing I have done on that image page is reverted vandalism when some IP posted "MATERAZZI SUCKS BALLS" or something like that... Killfest2 07:07, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, sorry about that. I saw you on the history and just assumed you uploaded it. I'll learn to read next time. Ytny 07:13, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- No problems, I do exactly the same thing - just look at the comment below! Killfest2 09:52, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I saw your question on Talk:Main_Page#3RR and RC Patrollers. Simple vandalism is exempt from 3RR; see WP:3RR#Reverting vandalism for more information. It wouldn't be a bad idea to skim through WP:3RR for your own reference. Incidentally, I removed your question from Talk:Main Page, as that is intended for discussion of the main page. If you have further questions or wish to invite others to answer, the Wikipedia:Help desk is probably the best place. I'd be happy to explain further, too. — Knowledge Seeker দ 09:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Damn, gotta learn to read policies... Killfest2 09:40, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Every time I go to revert some vandalism, you beat me to it! You're too quick and you're making other editors feel redundant! Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:28, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- And my internet is slow at the moment <:o) Sorry, I'm off to have dinner right now (I'm Australian), so feel free to steal all my reverts in the next 10 minutes or so. Killfest2 09:30, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, Daniel, I managed to get a couple! :) Btw, I'm Australian, too. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:37, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Back. I guessed, from the "Oi!" :P I'll leave you to do a few more while I fix up an article I've been putting off for a while. Make the most of it! Killfest2 09:39, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
how come my edit was rejected? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.152.174.31 (talk • contribs)
- Because your entries were unencyclpædic - writing in an article about how someone you know left the country isn't appropriate. If you sign up (register), feel free to post it on your user page. However, encyclopædic articles aren't for that kind of editing. Sorry. Killfest2 10:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for uploading Image:Viduka Tackle.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 11:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
