Martin Lorentzon
[edit]Hello Dan,
I was referred to you by User:Only in death after I reached out to the 'Biographies of living persons' noticeboard regarding the biography of Martin Lorentzon. I am an employee of Spotify and had a series of additions I wanted to put forward to his current Wikipedia page. As a Spotify employee, Wikipedia's terms prohibit me from making the contributions myself.
Unfortunately, I haven't received a response from the original or most recent editor of Martin Lorentzon's biography. Please may I ask that you take a look at the proposed additions here: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anv%C3%A4ndardiskussion:Entheta#Contributions_to_Martin_Lorentzon.27s_Wikipedia_page
Kind regards, --MartinVacher (talk) 09:18, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
Hi @MartinVacher:, I will look into this and report back to you. Dan Koehl (talk) 09:28, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
Hi @Dan Koehl:, do you have any updates to share? Thank you --MartinVacher (talk) 21:51, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay, @MartinVacher:, when looking into this issue, I found it somewhat complex, and would like to advice you to contact the Swedish Wikipedia officially, through info-sv@wikimedia.org. Hope this helps. Dan Koehl (talk) 05:17, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
False claim
[edit]You accused me of "removing content without giving an explanation". The edit you were referring to was very clearly explained in the edit summary. You ignored me when I asked why you'd made such a clearly false accusation, so I'm asking you here. Why did you accuse me of not explaining an edit, when I had done no such thing? 88.12.234.28 (talk) 21:01, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- No thoughts on that? No explanation of why you behaved that way? 88.12.234.28 (talk) 10:32, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- @88.12.234.28:, You simply gave your opinion as explanation, and other users may have another opinion. But after I saw tendencies to edit war I left the issue to them. Dan Koehl (talk) 12:48, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
Bad typo fix
[edit]Hi Dan, in your edit to Valses nobles et sentimentales (Ravel), you changed "langage" to "language", but langage is the correct word in this case. Graham87 05:41, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

File mover granted
[edit]Hello Dan Koehl. Your account has been granted the "file mover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! File:Artocarpus.odoratissimus1we.jpg
[edit]On June 1, you added a template to File:Artocarpus.odoratissimus1we.jpg asking that it not be moved to Commons, because it already exists there under a different name, File:Starr 030807-0064 Artocarpus odoratissimus.jpg. There is now a discussion at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 June 2#File:Artocarpus.odoratissimus1we.jpg on whether there is a good reason for us to keep a copy here on Wikipedia. I invite you to join that discussion. ★ Bigr Tex 19:27, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles to Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)? It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. The idea at some point will be to host a National Contest related to your country of interest. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:15, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Wikipedia Meetup in Phnom Penh
[edit]Hi Dan — Just noticed that you're based out of Phnom Penh, and was wondering if you'd be interested in helping me organize the next Wikipedia Meetup in the city? There are several start-up spaces such as Emerald Hub, Impact Hub and Development Innovations/DI which would be happy to give us space for the event. I am also acquainted with some Khmer Wikipedians and will also be contacting them. Cheers, — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 08:00, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Dan Koehl,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
[edit]
Hello Dan Koehl. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:47, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Graeme Bartlett:. Dan Koehl (talk) 12:20, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter
[edit]- Breaking the back of the backlog
If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
- Second set of eyes
Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
- Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote
With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.
