Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Daddydewdrop. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Daddy Dewdrop, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Tgeairn (talk) 01:34, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Your user page / Wikipedia articles
[edit]Please see WP:UPYES for what is acceptable on your user page ==> User:Daddydewdrop . Generally, content that will help other editors understand how you can help improve Wikipedia or minor silliness that helps build the Wikipedia community that goes on to build the encyclopedia. But nothing that could be construed as an advertisement or overly self promotional. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 07:16, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- This ==> Daddy Dewdrop however, is NOT your page. It is a Wikipedia article (in pretty bad shape) about a songwriter (who happens to be you). And unless someone demonstrates that the subject of the article meets the basic requirements for being a stand alone article, it is likely to be deleted soon. Your involvement with the troubled article should remain limited to the talk page ==>Talk:Daddy Dewdrop see WP:AUTOBIO for more info. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 07:24, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

- The best thing you can do is round up reliably published third party sources that discuss Daddy Dewdrop in depth and add them to the talk page. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:02, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- If it will take you a while to round up the reliable sources needed to improve the article, we can move it from "live encyclopedia space" where policies are applied quickly to "draft space" where there is generally more time and leniency given to works in progress. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:28, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

I need help in making the page daddy dewdrop proper and acceptable. I went on Warren Zevon's wikipedia page and tried to follow the format I guess that didn't work. I am now being asked to find third parties to edit the page. The original page with errors has been up for years so in trying to set the record straight I am now in this mess. Maybe going back to the old page is the best way to resolve the issue. Please advise

- Daddydewdrop, my suggestion for editing the page would be to make suggestions on the talk page. This way, editors can see the references and information and determine whether it is reliable and worth including in the article. Primefac (talk) 13:37, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- The old version isnt really any better. It was just never closely reviewed. Are you actively attempting to round up sources or should we move the article to draft space to allow more time? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:41, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
