Hyde Park, Kansas City

[edit]

In this article, you included several {{cite news}} templates, citing old newspaper articles. To format the references properly, that template requires at least the title of the specific article you're citing, and the authors (if bylined) and page numbers of the articles would also be helpful. Can you supply more complete information to fill out the citations? Deor (talk) 14:38, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for calling it out. I did not have this information on-hand when I first published my changes, but I have gone back and made the edits to reflect the article names, titles, issues, and pages. DVanDeursen (talk) 00:18, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also you gotta actually use those citations. Half of the paragraphs in a few of the articles I've seen you expand are completely uncited, where at least every one of them must be. Each individual statement must be cited, and they can all share one citation at the end of the paragraph if that's literally applicable. Thanks. This is a lot of really good work, and all for absolutely nothing in an encyclopedia without citations! Let me know absolutely any way I can help, because I'm doing the same thing for KC! I did City workhouse castle and Union Cemetery (Kansas City, Missouri) and lots of others. You must have a lot of wiki experience to be dominating articles in 20 total edits; do you have another Wikipedia account? I'm just curious how or why you created an account 11 years ago, didn't edit at all until recently, and were an instant heavy-hitter. — Smuckola(talk) 03:14, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe some of the citations that I added were then removed by others? Or there may have been some there before I edited that I didn't notice weren't being used and should have been removed. But I'm pretty sure that all of the citations I've added have been properly populating in the References... Correct me if I'm wrong?
Great work on those articles! I'm a Kansas City native and a map geek, so I have squirreled away quite a bit of geographical Kansas City knowledge over the years.
I activated my account 11 years ago, realized I didn't have the time to contribute meaningfully, then rediscovered the account a few months ago. Been trying to give the "greats" of Kansas City some of the love they deserve, and standardize the different styles across pages. (Adding infoboxes, giving route descriptions, etc.) I did some minor editing during the COVID-19 shutdown to other Kansas City-related pages, but they were all anonymous because I still hadn't re-found my login and wasn't planning to get serious.
