Re: Lesly Joseph
[edit]First, I have to ask, because of the similarity of your username: are you Lesly Joseph, or someone close to him? If you are, I need to tell you that writing about yourself on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged, because of the inherent conflict of interest. If you are notable enough to warrant an article, then someone else will eventually write one about you.
That aside, my main concerns about the article are 1) the establishment of notability and 2) the inappropriate tone. First, notability: although the article mentions a number of organizations that the subject is involved in, it's not clear that any of these organizations lend notability. For one thing, statements that establish notability need to be backed up with reliable sources, which generally means the subject has been directly covered by well-known media. YouTube is not a reliable source. Citations belong in the text of the article, rather than at the end, so readers can easily identify which statements can be traced to which sources. The page Wikipedia:Citing sources has more information on how to do that.
Second, the inappropriate tone. Wikipedia strives for a neutral point of view, which means avoiding any editorializing, or language that tries to make the subject seem better or more important without adding any information. Adverbs like "very", "highly", and "quickly" tend to be matters of opinion, and should usually be avoided. Sentences like "They had no place to meet, no money and no help. But he kept on trusting in the vision he received" stray far from the matter-of-fact tone we are looking for. These are just examples – the tone of the entire article needs to be revised.
The article is in no immediate danger of deletion, so you can keep working on it in the public space if you like. If you want to delete it, you can add the tag {{db-author}} to the top. If, after some time, the article is still there without significant improvement, it may be deleted, but it will not be deleted without warning. For the future, if you want to work on an article without it going "live", I recommend starting with the article wizard, which will let you create a draft. —Swpbtalk 00:06, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your answer.
- To answer your first question, I am not Lesly Joseph. I know his story, his background, etc. And I can testify that he is notable enough to write an article about him. There is a lot to say about him but I try my best to be concise, and I realize that I have to work on it again.
- Concerning the sources that establish his notability, I am sorry for using Youtube and I understand now that it is not considered as a reliable source. But I have a question please: the youtube links that I put in the article were to prove that he has been directly covered by many well-known media. He has reached a total of 100 million people through all the tv reports that were made about him. So how can I prove this if I can't show the reports in themselves through Youtube?
- Regarding the tone, I understand that I have to revise the entire article and I thank you for your help and the example that you gave me.
- Would you please help me improve this article? I will revise it entirely and, if you agree, when I am done I will ask you to take a look at it...
- Again, thank you very much for your help!
- Regarding improving the article, I would suggest you seek help from the editors at WikiProject Christianity. —Swpbtalk 22:21, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
Deletion discussion about Lesly Joseph
[edit]Hello, DRLJEN,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Lesly Joseph should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lesly Joseph .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, —Swpbtalk 22:06, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
