I am: D. EVANS NEVADA STATE DIRECTOR Nevada Juneteenth Committee / National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF)
Reverend Myers is the National Chairman of the organization.
My relationship has been with the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation since 2003, beginning with Juneteenth celebrations in Chicago. In 2005, I relocated to Las Vegas and successfully promoted the recognition of Juneteenth in the state of Nevada.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (05/14/11) Governor Brian Sandoval signed the Juneteenth Independence Day bill into law on May 12th , making Nevada the 39th state to recognize America's second Independence Day day.
(Carson City, NV) - Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed legislation to make Nevada the 39th state to recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday observance. The historic signing ceremony at the Governor's office in the state capital, on May 12th, was attended by Assemblyman Harvey J. Munford, sponsor of AB174, Nevada State Director for the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF), Deborah A. Evans, and National Juneteenth Creative Arts and Education Director, Mac Loving, Jr.
"We especially thank State Representative Harvey J. Munford for keeping his promise to pass legislation to make Juneteenth a state holiday observance in Nevada," states Deborah Evans, also Nevada Director of the National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign. "We are not advocating for Juneteenth Independence Day to be a paid holiday, but a special day of observance, like Flag Day or Patriot Day."
Juneteenth recognizes the day, June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to read General Order #3, announcing "all slaves are free" through the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln. It took over two and a half years for the news to reach Southwest Texas, the last geographic area in America where slavery was practiced, creating the oldest African American freedom celebration and America's second Independence Day.
“We are overjoyed and honored that State Assemblyman Munford worked so closely with us to accomplish our legislative mission," states Evans. "As an educator, athlete, and down to earth legislator, he knew the history, had the perseverance to keep his eye on the prize, and he listened to the wishes of the community." The NJOF hopes to establish a Nevada State Juneteenth Commission," states Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., Founder & Chairman of the NJOF and the National Juneteenth Christian Leadership Council (NJCLC), sponsors of the National Day of Reconciliation and Healing From the Legacy of Enslavement. "The commission will help develop curriculum to teach the history of slavery and freedom through Juneteenth in schools, preserve that history through developing key historical landmarks and projects which will develop tourism in Nevada through the celebration of Juneteenth."
The Nevada bill AB174 reads:
1. The Governor shall annually proclaim June 19 to be “Juneteenth Day” in the State of Nevada to commemorate the abolition of slavery in the United States.
2. The proclamation must call upon the news media, educators and appropriate governmental officers to bring to the attention of Nevada’s residents the historical significance of the day when the last slaves in the United States were emancipated and the significant contributions of African-Americans to the State.’

No edits or comments, have been submitted by me on the Ronald Myers or Juneteenth pages in several months. I have not been to the pages in recent period so I am unable to understand why you are contacting me at this time.
I disagree that there is a conflict of interest. My 'relationship' is not with Reverend Myers but with the Juneteenth cause. While affiliated with the National Juneteenth Observation Foundation and holiday campaign as a state director, this is a grassroots volunteer effort. The information that I submitted was researched on the Internet and taken from various available sites. Yes, some of the sites were NJOF but most of the information that I submitted were from non related sites; magazines, newspapers, interviews, etc. that were available a year ago. Where their information came from you would have to question them to ascertain possible conflict. It was submitted because I needed information that was not available at organizational level nor on Wikipedia. When research was completed I submitted.
"Writing_about_yourself_and_people_you_know|conflict of interest" Please define the borders you use to construct "knowing" a person. I have met Rev. Myers and several within the group. I have met political and entertainment personalities. I do not "know" them. If there was an interest or need for information, I would do what I did for Rev. Myers which is research all sources that I could find. I have done genealogy research and written on several individuals that I am related to by blood but I did not "know" them. Would this be considered conflict of interest?
I apologize if I have submitted too much, I believe in thoroughness and documentation.

- I contacted you because I was curious to what extent Mr. Myers was involved in writing the article about himself. In the past few weeks Mr. Myers has been active and very aggressive in his efforts to add/retain information about himself to Wikipedia. The cooperation between you and him during the several days in which it was written, and your comments at the time, suggested that you were a personal friend, family member, or colleague, possibly with the same intentions. Now that you've answered, and your explanation of your limited relationship to him sounds reasonable, I'm not accusing you of doing anything wrong ... I'm just asking that you be careful about future editing on subjects where you may not be objective.

Thank you for responding. My research was in the fall of 2010. The book indicates January 2011 which leads me to believe that Jamey Franciscus Modestus is either affiliated with Wikipedia or my searches on Google generated a report of all the sites that I visited. If the content is a result of my searches it would be a verification of submitted content.
It appears that several of submitted links and references have been removed, reason unknown. Additional links and references which you might be able to use for verification follow. I will not make any changes to the page.
