Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Derek Jeter. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.

Highlights in NBA bio infobox

[edit]

Thanks for your recent contributions to Kobe Bryant. Please note that "NBA champion" is not considered a proper noun, thus "champion" is not capitalized. Also, year ranges in the infobox are typically displayed with an en dash, as opposed to listing each individual year. You can refer to Template:Infobox basketball biography under "Highlights" for typical guidelines used in NBA articles.—Bagumba (talk) 05:34, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aaron Gordon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Power forward (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please stop with the basketball positions

[edit]

We stick with the 5 named positions (Center, power forward, small forward, point guard shooting guard) or just forward or guard if more specific us not known. Thanks. Rikster2 (talk) 03:18, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Player positions

[edit]

For player positions such as your edit to Kobe Bryant, we go off sources that list a player's generally accepted position. For example, Bryant at http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bryanko01.html is listed as shooting guard only, although he played a few games at point guard. To avoid original research, please be prepared to cite sources that support any position changes. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 03:19, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 04:00, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NBA infobox

[edit]

Thanks for your recent contributions. Please note that info in an infobox should be concise. So there is no need to put links of all the ASG years. —Chris!c/t 23:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can also look at the instructions at Template:Infobox basketball biography, where some common practices are detailed.—Bagumba (talk) 01:10, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I had to revert a few of your recent edits to the "league" field of the infobox. The league is intended to be the player's current league, not all the leagues in his career. Again, please refer to Template:Infobox basketball biography, or look at the existing format in other NBA bios.—Bagumba (talk) 08:50, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to NBA articles

[edit]

Wikipedia encourages editors to be bold with their edits. However, sometimes if you do similar changes to multiple articles, your work might get reverted on each of them because it is against consensus. Nobody likes having all their work reverted, so you can also consider posting a question to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Basketball Association in advance of making a stylistic change to multiple articles. If it turns out there is no consensus, you save a lot of your work from needing to be undone. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 01:16, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Championships in the infobox

[edit]

There is a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Conference_championships_and_Super_Bowl_in_infobox that you are invited to join. This is related to your recent edits adding Super Bowl appearances and conference championships into infoboxes.—Bagumba (talk) 23:05, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add information back about Super Bowl and championship appearances without discussing, as you did with this edit at Colin Kaepernick. Wikipedia discourages edit warring.—Bagumba (talk) 16:58, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NFL Top 100

[edit]

Consensus is not to put them in infoboxes: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#nfl_accomplishments. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 04:54, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff leaders in infobox

[edit]

There is no consensus to add playoff leaders in stats categories into the infobox per Wikipedia_talk:NBA#Playoff_statistical_leaders_in_infobox. Please discuss there if you disagree.—Bagumba (talk) 03:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss before adding this same information to Michael Jordan. I am removing it as there was never support.—Bagumba (talk) 06:42, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NBA bio infobox conventions

[edit]

You might find Wikipedia:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association/Article_guidelines#Infobox_highlights to be helpful; it has details of conventions that are generally followed for the infobox for NBA bios. If you are planning to make a common change to multiple articles that is not mentioned in that document, it may be helpful to discuss at WT:NBA to gauge whether there is consensus. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 03:56, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adding minutes leaders leaders to LeBron James and Monta Ellis is an example. There is a new discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association#Season_stats_leader_in_infobox.—Bagumba (talk) 04:22, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Your recent edit of Dwyane Wade also continues to clash with conventions from other NBA biographies as well as consensus at the aforementioned Wikipedia:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association/Article_guidelines#Infobox_highlights. Please discuss if you wish to change consensus.—Bagumba (talk) 21:14, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Your recent edit to LeBron James is a disruptive, again adding detail against conventions in other articles without discussion, and marking them as minor.—Bagumba (talk) 01:36, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Due to this, your edits may have been reverted. Request reason:

I put it down as a "minor edit" and it wasn't. It was an honest mistake and it won't happen again. I was just trying to help DJSkippyB (talk) 23:40, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The thing is, all of your edits are marked as 'minor' - this is not a mistake, it is a consistent pattern of behavior, and one that has continued through five months of warnings and not one but two previous blocks for this issue. We are of course supposed to assume good faith, but AGF is not a suicide pact; at this point "I won't do it again" is insufficient assurance that the behavior won't continue. If you are willing to accept 1. that you have, consistently and methodically, as a matter of course, marked all your edits, minor or not, as minor; 2. that this is unacceptable, and 3. to agree that you will mark no edits as minor in the future, and that any further inappropriate 'minor edit' markings will result in your being re-blocked, then an unblock can be considered. But treating it as if it were a singlular 'honest mistake' is not going to be enough here, I'm afraid. The Bushranger One ping only 00:46, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. Major LeBron James edits

[edit]

DJSkippyB,

I appreciate the work you have put into the 2014 section of LeBron James; however, as we hope to keep that article in Good Article standing and eventually push for a Featured Article, I think that your work will need to be trimmed substantially. It is simply not good Wikipedia practice to devote three whole paragraphs to a single season, especially considering the first paragraph is devoted entirely to a single game. I am going to open a Talk section over there now and confirm with the community that trimming down your edits is the correct thing to do in case I am mistaken. If others confirm that the work needs to be trimmed, I will go ahead and do so. Thanks!--Ktmartell (talk) 13:51, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For the most recent discussion regarding using "first-team", see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association/Archive_26#.22First_Team.22_vs._.22first_team.22. Edit warring on NBA infobox

Please refrain from your slow edit warring over highlights in the infobox at Stephen Curry. Your edits are contrary to Wikipedia:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association/Style_advice#NBA_highlights. You were kindly asked before to get consensus for any changes you want to propose to the style guide. WT:NBA would be a suitable venue. Replaceable fair use File:Tim Lincecum World Series.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tim Lincecum World Series.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:49, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Kevin Durant‎‎. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.Bagumba (talk) 04:39, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited NBA regular season records, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mark Jackson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
