Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Wikipedia. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Hello, I'm 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2 (talk) 22:44, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hey 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2. I'm not sure how to discuss this with you directly. I have seen the edits you made to the page. You edits seem to fix all the 'maintenance' problems. I would love to ask you a few questions about wikipedia. Is this the best way to speak with you?
- This works fine. It would be best if you neither added promotional content, nor removed templates from the article, especially since WP:COI is apparent. Allow uninvolved editors to look at the article. 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2 (talk) 22:52, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Of course, I understand. I do have a conflict of interest (student at the school) however I am hoping to make edits that will inform future students. There are different types of chiropractic schools and my hope is that the edits will help students understand which type we are specifically. I may have gone over board and I apologize (again I am learn how this works). But my intuition is not to promote the school (they have too much of my money already). If it's quite alright with you I will give more thought on how to properly describe the school and edit it again next week but of course there are some facts about the school that are true but impossible to reference. Would this be acceptable to you?
- Thanks for acknowledging. It's terribly tricky, as can be seen from the article's dismal edit history, which includes years of promotional disruption by conflicted accounts. And the encyclopedia can not publish content unless it's supported by WP:RELIABLE sources. Personal experience and institutional lore aren't acceptable. Not my policies; they're non-negotiable Wikipedia guidelines. Cheers, 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2 (talk) 23:04, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Alright. I will be sure to include references to all my future edits. If my future edits are unacceptable please reach me here so I can correct redact them myself and avoid the trail of embarrassment if you wouldn't mind! THANKS!
- Those were what are considered promotional edits, again. If it continues I'll request this account be blocked, and if need by the article can be protected. 2601:188:180:11F0:AD9C:39F3:1470:72E2 (talk) 00:54, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've protected the page for 36 hours, meaning you won't be able to edit it D4NN7N. This has been done to prevent promotional content from being added, intentional or not. I wouldn't say being a student there is as much as conflict of interest as other positions (such as an employee), but if you want to change the contents of the article, I suggest you use the talk page with the {{edit semi-protected}} template. Make sure you supply a reliable source which supports your changes. Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 01:09, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm so sorry! It's not my intention to break Wikipedia policies. I thought I was doing the right thing by finding sources. Is there a way to state those things without being considered 'promotional'. I thought I was being thorough by citing the dean of medicine at UofT. The biggest thing is the force sensing tables we use. It's an incredible new technology that many chiropractic schools are interesting in purchasing from CMCC. Would it be best to start a full new wikipedia page on the technology? Any help you can give would be incredible. I know you believe an uninvolved editor should work on the page however anyone that is uninvolved would have no idea of the technology in the first place. I won't touch the page any further without your consent but I'm really confused on how to share this information without it being promotional. :(
Oh ok. I will look into using the talk page. I'm not sure sure how it works. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!
- If you don't have a source and you just want to discuss it, just make a new section by clicking the "New section" button in the header. Just note that it might take some time to get any responses because the page isn't very popular. Anarchyte (work | talk) 01:14, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- Wonderful. Thanks for your help. I realize I screwed up on the first few edits and I'm sorry for that. I made further edits and worked hard to cite those well. I don't really understand how to make statements that are less promotional but I will work on it and I will look into the 'talks' section also. I think the information I'm trying to give is really important. If I do anything wrong again just let me know on here. I'm happy to keep working at this until the information is presented in an acceptable manner. I'm also happy to demonstrate my student status in any way you deem acceptable if that helps my case. THANKS! D4NN7N (talk) 03:37, 18 November 2017 (UTC)D4NN7N
- No need to verify your identity. You can stay as anonymous as much as you want on Wikipedia. Anarchyte (work | talk) 14:41, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
