[edit]Hi Cytovet! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
FIP
[edit]I like the direction you are going with your edits to the FIPV article. However, what that article needs, big time, are sources. See WP:MEDRS for what we'd love to have (basically, peer-reviewed studies are best). If you can find them, either put them in the article as footnotes with <ref> tags (per WP:CITE ) or just post the URLs of links on the article talk page and I will help you get them properly formatted for the article. I am interested in this topic because I lost a kitten adopted from a shelter to this condition a couple years ago, and the vet who treated her was extremely critical of people getting cats from the shelter, which raises quite a few more issues surrounding the benefits and risks of adopting shelter pets, including the vulnerability of older cats exposed to the coronavirus. There are a lot of pet lover sites that discuss this condition, but not a lot of good solid scientific material to be found; I was ripping my hair out when the kitten was diagnosed, trying to figure it all out. Anyway, I'd love to lend a hand with the wikipedia formatting and writing side if you can help more with the up to date scientific material! Thanks! Montanabw(talk) 19:40, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your encouragement. It seems that you & I have a similar perspective regarding the state of information about FIP on the "interwebs". The disease is confusing to understand. In addition, having a cat with this disease is frustrating and heart-breaking. I will try to bring more peer-reviewed studies in to this subject. Your help will be needed and greatly appreciated. We will keep this going for the shelter pets!--Cytovet (talk) 00:10, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- "But-but-but- I read it on teh intranetz so it must be true!" (LOL) Yes. You might also want to pop over to WP:WikiProject Veterinary medicine and consider joining, it's not real active, but what people are interested in the topic are there. Tons of articles to look over!
