Sailor Moon article changes
[edit]- Just about everything you've added doesn't have anything to corrobate it as far as I can see. Please provide some sources; until then, I'm reverting all the changes you've made. Danny Lilithborne 23:13, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- The changes to the main "Sailor Moon" article seem fine, so I left those. Danny Lilithborne 23:19, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
I can't provide you with sources because I can't send you my original Manga. Every change I made was 100% right. If you need more sources for Selenity vs. Serenity, I can try to find something about Endymion, but the best source would be John Keats's poem entited Endymion, which is several books (parts) long and I'm not going to type it out. As for other things, you'll have to be more specific. I changed a lot of stuff because a lot of it was wrong.
- Most people go by Alex Glover's translations. If you want to contest their accuracy, be my guest, but it's an uphill battle. Danny Lilithborne 23:36, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- I've argued with Glover's translation of Death Ribbon Revolution and he refused to change it, mostly because he was lazy. He's wrong about it though. It's read Ribbon, no matter what anybody says. If you read the Katakana it's clear that's what it states.
Here's the proof by the way of everything I've said:
- Wrong. Read this: The Katakana says "Ri-Bo-n". It's NOT stated as "REBORN" which would require an extra R. Also it uses RIBBONS.
[1] That's Re-BO-RI-N or Reborn, this picture is from a Game. [2] It shows RI-BO-N, from the actual MANGA. [3] Now go up to the top of this page, put your cursor over RI-BO-N. It is read RIBBON. This is Tokyo Mew Mew, a different manga, but it also uses the exact same Katakana. [4] Alex GLover's translation of Sailor Moon. Yes, he disagrees with me about Ribbon vs. Reborn, I don't care. I argued with him about it, but if you read what Saturn says: '"I am the messenger from the depths of death. Carrier of the protection of the planet of ruin, Saturn. The soldier of silence. Sailor Saturn."' '"It's beautiful," says Saturn. "The suffering of the moment of destruction. Now! Right away! The guide to death, Sailor Saturn, will lead to the world of silence and nothingness!"' '"I don't feel despair," Saturn says. "Along with death, there is always hope and rebirth. You will cause that, Super Sailor Moon."
"Sailor Saturn...!"
"Sailor Moon, because you opened up the power of the legendary moon chalice and the Mystical Silver Crystal, you can save this planet. For my rebirth, I eliminate death and destruction. Soon the Tokyo where the Silver Millennium is will dwell on this chosen land. The sacred power is on your side. Sailor Pluto! Forever shut the passage to the other world!" '
Saturn was Reborn due to Sailor Moon's powers. As you can see, Saturn openly states that Sailor Moon will CAUSE the hope and Rebirth. That's Moon's power, healing. Saturn's is destruction.
It's on the Saturn discussion as well.
Name changes (discussion from Futari wa Pretty Cure)
[edit]"Maybe it's just me, and I'm not going to correct it because it'll probably just be undone again later, but I find it silly that the names are put in the accepted American/English standard rather than the Japanese. The Surname should come first. Flipping them around just seemed unncessary and silly to me."
Maybe it is silly, (as a student of Japanese I find flipped names increasingly annoying) but "flipping" the names of modern persons is the standard way to do it in the English wiki, see WP:MOS-JP#Names. My thought is that even if a user is familiar with the reverse order of Japanese names, they may be unfamiliar with what is likely to be a first name or last name. Consequently, despite such knowledge of naming conventions, they won't be able to tell whether we are following English or Japanese. (As the flipping/no flipping choice is different just about everywhere.) The best solution is to use the Template:Nihongo, IMO. It is clear and informative. Liashi 18:42, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
