Rather than try to undo the merge (I like the merge, personally) I simply requested the page be moved back to Vectorman because I think that's its proper title, and it's unnecessary to dismbiguate it with the word "series". See Talk:Vector Man Series to discuss. Nifboy (talk) 00:48, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when redirecting or moving a page, please remember to take care of the talk page as well; in particular, the {{vgproj}} banner, used for assessments, should be moved to the new page. Nifboy (talk) 03:25, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Any game, move, book having multiple installments and spin-off's has a series article since Vector Man has a sequel and will eventually have more installments, it is best to have a series article.--Cube b3 (talk) 08:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but Vectorman is the proper article title for a series article, if one exists. See for instance Final Fantasy. This is especially true since there's no longer an article at Vectorman, thus it becomes unnecessary to disambiguate the article title. Nifboy (talk) 13:15, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sort of confused as to what you're proposing. The way you did the merge, by redirecting Vectorman 2, we went from having two individual game articles to one single series article. I'm perfectly okay with that. You seem to be referring to the Vectorman 1 and 2 articles as if they still, for all intents and purposes, exist. Which I don't think is necessary. Nifboy (talk) 13:55, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, our naming conventions are such that HeadHunter Series be moved to Headhunter (series); We don't use CamelCaps and the name of the series is not "Headhunter series", it's the "Headhunter" series. Hence, we put series in parenthesis. Nifboy (talk) 14:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Locking an article

[edit]

Hi Cube b3; did you mean the article Genealogy of Sega software development Studios? If so, I'm afraid that anonymous user activity isn't high enough (only a couple times a day at most) to warrant protecting (locking) an article. See the protection policy for details; protection is considered a fairly strong measure that we like to avoid when feasible. I also see that some of the recent IP editors, such as 115.186.117.120 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 203.81.215.45 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) haven't been warned, and some edits look to be in good faith. Is it just the 221.154.158.* user that's being problematic? If so, if you have to revert the user again, use the edit summary to invite discussion on the talk page of the article regarding the disputed material (and you might want to post to the talk page why the user's information is incorrect). Ask for sources (and continue to provide them yourself, as you find them). Users should know that challenged unsourced material can be removed (per WP:V). The user might not have been getting your messages because his/her IP changes quickly, so s/he might not have actually seen your previous message.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this appears to be, at the moment, a good-faith content dispute; if it were to rise to the level of needing protection, policy dictates that the article would be fully protected so that you could work out the problem on the talk page. Protection can't be used to allow registered users to gain an advantage in content disputes; we selectively lock out new and unregistered users only when they are being blatantly and consistently unproductive. As a outside observer, I can't immediately discern that, so keep that in mind. Adding sources will help to discourage users from changing material (and make it easier to detect whether they're acting in bad faith, because obstinately changing or removing referenced material without a reason is an offense easier to spot for a neutral party).

In the future, if you think protection is still justified, you can request it at WP:RFPP; this is almost always faster than asking an individual administrator. — TKD::{talk} 12:40, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. — TKD::{talk} 16:42, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck with the rewrites. My notice was more for future notice. Although you were merging multiple pages, it looks as if you merged one into the other first, before retitling it, so keep the move button in mind when renaming the combined page.

As for the page merged into it, there's no good way of directly merging page histories and have diffs still make sense, so instead an edit summary should be used to note the original pages; see WP:MERGE#Performing the merger for more information. If you could go back and make dummy edits on the pages that you've combined in this way to note (in the edit summary) where they've been merged to/from, that would be helpful, and would help to comply with the modification history requirements of the GFDL, the license that Wikipedia uses. Thanks. — TKD::{talk} 17:35, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit summary usage

[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.--Sting Buzz Me... 11:58, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DarkSun

[edit]

Hi, I see that you (and a bunch of people) were subject of extremely fast deletion by user Darksun. That seems to be Darksun's main mission. I was halfway through writing an article when Darksun deleted it. Couldn't believe it! I'm going to start an article on "Deletion Gestapo" and see how fast the Deletion Gestapo try to delete it. We're trying to contribute, and a small percentage of people are tearing it down. Your thoughts...? Since this is the situation, and your record shows that you have edited in good standing for several years, I am resolving this with an IP block exemption. Daniel Case (talk) 15:37, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IP block exempt

[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Daniel Case (talk) 15:37, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GOAT store

[edit]

References 2 and 3 fail WP:RS. Reference 1 is only marginally about the subject. You need to supply some better references to establish that this store is notable it it will probably be deleted. Burpelson AFB (talk) 01:01, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've added 3 more references--Cube b3 (talk) 01:07, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

None of these sources seem to satisfy WP:RS... they mostly look like blogs and random gaming websites. Please take a minute to read WP:RS. I haven't prodded or AFDed the article yet so you have time to satisfy the Notability policy. Burpelson AFB (talk) 01:21, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article was already removed once before per AFD for the same reasons. Secondly, I don't understand your rationale with trying to merge this article you recreated with Midwest Gaming Classic, nor including an entire section on it in the GOAT store article. One's a gaming store/publisher and the other is a gaming convention. The GOAT Store is simply a sponsor of the show, Dan and Gary's involvement in MGC is completely separate. The GOAT Store and MGC are not one in the same, they're completely separate entities. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 13:03, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Iride_Co-Op_play_mode.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Iride_Co-Op_play_mode.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. License tagging for File:Senileteam.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Senileteam.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:17, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Rise of Nightmares has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unreleased, not yet notable videogame

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Tikiwont (talk) 19:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hang on}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Articles for deletion

[edit]

I see you have commented on the talk page of multiple articles which are up for deletion stating that they should be kept. Response to your comment at my talk page

[edit]

Thanks for your note. Yes, I am quite aware that most contributors are here on their free time. I hope you are aware that applies to me as well. I'm a volunteer, working on content, and spending some time on the administrative functions.

I declined the Speedy Deletion request, with the expectation that it would move to an AfD request to help you. While I understand it can be discouraging to work on something likely to be deleted, it would be more discouraging (at least to me), to see something I worked on deleted without much of a discussion. You are not expected to spend much time at the deletion discussion. That discussion isn't structured as a discussion with you, it is structured as a place for any editor to weigh in with their thoughts about whether the article meets the requirements for inclusion. The editors of the articles can contribute as well, and are likely to because of their interest, but it is neither expected, not even encouraged that you respond to each and every editor making a comment. My goal was to help you by providing more information about the shortcomings of the article, so if you'd like to work on it, you'd know how best to spend your time.

I have a lot of interests, but these types of games are not part of my interests, so I won't be able to help specifically. However, I would like to clear up what may be a misconception.

The articles have been tagged with a need for more secondary sources. You made a comment implying that you thought that Play-Asia was a secondary source. Not at all.

A primary source is (roughly) one connected to the it me being discussed. So, for example, in the Senile Team article, some of the references are to senileteam.com. Those are all primary references. They are acceptable in an article, but they do not support the notability of the subject. For that, one needs secondary sources, which are articles about the subject, but written by an independent source. An ideal secondary source is a well-regarded newspaper or magazine article about the subject. Acceptable, but less ideal sources are industry magazines doing reviews of games. You have included several references, but very few qualify as the type of independent sources we like to see. --SPhilbrickT 15:34, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for removing the speedy deletion tag, play-asia has a news section where they do a bit of reporting. It is hard for main stream press to give proper coverage to retro gaming scene, however I have few good references lik Kotaku, i'll just need to dig them.

Thank you for making time and helping me out. Regards Billy--Cube b3 (talk) 15:45, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have the authority to remove an AD tag. With very rare exceptions, once an article is submitted to AfD, it goes through the seven day process, and then action is taken based upon the consensus of the respondents. In some cases, such as this one,t he time is extended. The good news is that all !votes are "Keep" so far. (Cross-posted to your talk page.)--SPhilbrickT 17:14, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:NG.DEV.TEAM.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:NG.DEV.TEAM.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:35, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Virtua Tennis Series requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. — This, that, and the other (talk) 07:13, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sniper Studios

[edit]

Hello,

I don't know if Sniper Studios is still operating but I assume they might not be if we haven't heard anything from them since Crazy Taxi released on the PSP and their website no longer works (they had a working one before). --Elven6 (talk) 23:20, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Razor Sharp, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.jarodsafehouse.com/razorsharp.php.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Robin Shou, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 14k (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Kenji Eno rewrite

[edit]

Hi Cube b3, I noticed that you recently tagged the Kenji Eno article as requiring a full rewrite due to "gramatical mistakes and several refernces lead to dead links." I understand about the references to dead links issue which has been brought up on the talk page already, but I'm unclear on the grammar issues. Could you clarify that a bit on the talk page? Thanks for your help. I'd like to assist in the rewrite if I can. -Thibbs (talk) 04:21, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your response on the talk page. I'm still unclear about what you meant by "gramatical mistakes", though. Where are the grammar errors? I briefly re-read it and I really don't see any. Could you clarify that part on the talk page? -Thibbs (talk) 17:28, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK thanks for clarifying. And in the end I did find some spelling and grammar errors in the lede of all places. Thanks again for you help and happy editing. -Thibbs (talk) 17:56, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
