Color Africa

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Color Africa, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Matt Eason (Talk • Contribs) 21:49, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with Color Africa. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:
  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion notice(s)
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Matt Eason (Talk • Contribs) 22:46, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Color AFrica Logo.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Color AFrica Logo.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (ptt) 22:19, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Color Africa Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Color Africa Logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Color Africa, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. The AfD page for Color Africa is up at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Color_Africa, and your input would be very welcome. Matt Eason (Talk • Contribs) 23:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Color Africa

[edit]

I have cleaned it up as best I could as per your request. Unfortunately, the cleanup removed some parts which the AFD debate would have seen as unnecessary, so the article looks smaller still. However it is now in line with other wikipedia articles. You can always revert back to your version if you so wish, if you're not sure how let me know and I'll revert it for you. Color Africa

[edit]

Is this going to allow the page to stay up and running? If so, I will leave it as it until I gather the back-up documentation that is needed for verification. Ctbrons 15:27, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, it's a step in the right direction but I'm afraid the subject is borderline on not being notable enough for wikipedia. The trick is to look at is from the angle of someone researching the topic. If the article complies info from several expert sources lets say, its worth keeping, if it supplies only the information which the researcher could have gotten from the home website anyway, then it's probably not notable enough, I'm afraid.
However, with this new information you talk about, it might become notable. The debate on the deletion page says that the artile should be deleted then possibly recreated when the new information comes along. I suggest that you copy the existing article and paste it somewhere on your own PC or wikipedia user page, and when your new information is ready, add it in and paste it all back in to a new Color Africa article. It's possible to create sub-pages on your user page, so you could place the article at User:Ctbrons/Color Africa while you work on it rather than User:Ctbrons. Matt Eason (Talk • Contribs) 17:24, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing it was you who left a message on my talk about this image here? The user forgot to sign, but I'll assume twas you as it was about the Color Africa article image.
Right, lets see, the image has a 'no copyright tag' warning, which means you didn't put a tag in it's image summary (where you typed "© 2006 Binney & Smith" etc.) when you uploaded it. You can hit "edit this page" at the top of the image page and then add the correct tag from the list I've linked to above. By the way, images that are used with permission are tricky ones, because the permission has to be in writing/email, and you have to have a copy of it, and so on. I'm not too sure of the specifics, might be best asking an admin about that. Hope this helps SGGH 22:48, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That looks okay as far as I know, i have taken off the red tag seeing as you have fixed the problem. If it's not quite right, a more image experienced user will let you know, but I think it's okay. Sorry, images aren't my strongest point SGGH 18:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
