WikiProject Typography
[edit]Hi! Thank you for creating the WikiProject Typography! I think there was an urgent need for this project. There is a lot of work to do building up this project, so I think we should invite some other Wikipedians. I am really excited and looking forward to great cooperation. Kind regards, — Tirk·fl “…” 07:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- This is to say Hi and introduce myself! As you will see, I've added my name to the list. As a former typographer and graphic designer I have more than a passing interest in the subject. I have made contributions to a number of typography-related articles, and will endeavour to continue to do so. I tend more towards biographies of typographers, type designers, etc. and have a number of edits to Gill, Froshaug, Eckersley, Lubalin, Morrison, Tschichold, Ruari Mclean, et al to my credit. Not to mention Comic Sans (no, don't mention it!) I can't promise to be a regular contributor, but I will do my best. Cheers – Agendum (talk) 14:16, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Yidishe Zeitung.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Yidishe Zeitung.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris 07:41, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
The article Nadia Talent has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A single publication doesn't establish WP:Notability (persons).
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. De728631 (talk) 18:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Categorization of people
[edit]Just so you know for future reference, we categorize people by what they are, not by subject keywords or characteristics of the article. For example, a pomologist goes in Category:Pomologists, not Category:Fruit, and a botanist goes in Category:Botanists, not Category:Botany. And neither of them goes in Category:Biography, which is for things where the topic is a biography. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 03:15, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- On the talk pages, usually just {{WPBiography}} is fine. The information you need to enter right away is =yes or =no in the "living" field, =Last Name, First Name in the "listas" field and =yes in the "s&a-work-group" if it's a scientist or academic. "Class" and "priority" are fields you don't have to fill in if you're not familiar with the system of how those things are rated; in theory somebody will eventually come along and assign the appropriate ratings. Sometimes there are extra project templates that you can use, but you'd need to consult Wikipedia:WikiProject Science to determine what the most appropriate subproject is for each individual person (or "WikiProject Sports" if you write one about an athlete, etc., but I'm guessing you're interested mainly in scientists :-) Bearcat (talk) 04:22, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Nadia Talent
[edit]You may also wish to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Nadia Talent, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Smartse (talk) 21:04, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please do not create other articles on people who are clearly not notable. Please see WP:BASIC for some very simple rules that were clearly not met in this case. Smartse (talk) 21:05, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:CorfuSemetary.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:CorfuSemetary.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
