FYI conflict of interest guideline
[edit]I want to thank you for your interest in expanding the scope and information on Wikipedia. I also wanted to mention to you that if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia in Integrated Device Technologyor other articles, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view (NPOV) policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see the frequently asked questions for organizations. It notes that the talk page for articles may be the best avenue to get changes made through other editors to prevent any conflict of interest questions. If the page is not very active, you can typically find a WikiProject group that can help if you post a message on their project board. If this is a computer related article you can go to WikiProject Computing or post directly on the talk page and we can assist you to get the updated information into the article without risk to you being considered biased. If you have any questions you are welcome to post them on my talk page. Thank you. § Music Sorter § (talk) 04:00, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:IDTlogo stackedtag blu.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:IDTlogo stackedtag blu.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:41, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

IDT page
[edit]I noticed the IDT page was deleted for G11. I see you want to create a new article and not have it appear as a G11 status again. My personal recommendation is to spend a little time editing other articles outside of IDT. Start with something other than this particular field. Once you spend time in the other articles you will get a better sense of WP:NPOV. You might also consider getting someone else to create the page since your past work on Wikipedia appears to be exclusively for IDT and makes people think you are biased on that company and would have a difficult time making neutral edits. I would even consider working with you to create the article to help keep it neutral. § Music Sorter § (talk) 03:24, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- I just go the userfied page, and I understand that I don't yet have the proper tone in writing this article. I'll definitely start editing other articles as you suggested. Also since I was able to retrieve the old page would you mind helping me with the article? User:Crisscutfries/Integrated Device Technology Thanks for the advice. - Sure. I will do what I can. Personally I didn't think it was too far off, but something triggered a few people. Something to look at is how the sentences are constructed. For example
- "With the growing market in 4G wireless infrastructure, IDT has expanded their portfolio with Serial RapidIOs, RapidIO switches, RF products, and communication clocks. IDT currently has their products, RapidIO Switches, in every LTE base station."
- This sentence reads like something you would find in the product brochure or the press release. The Wikipedia article should not be a copy of the web site and product brochures. Rather you want to cover a bit about the company history in a neutral way. Consider reading the WP:GA and WP:FA information to better understand what makes good articles overall. The closer you get to a Feature Article, the farther you get from an advertisement. Also check out Google, Microsoft, NeXT, & Odwalla for some example high level articles on companies to get a feel for how they are different. As you start making changes I will track your userfied page and give feedback when I can. § Music Sorter § (talk) 04:07, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

- I see... so basically I want to write these articles to tell a story of the company? Crisscutfries (talk) 18:12, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Crisscutfries
- I would say that is a good way to look at it. That would likely keep you in a better frame of mind when writing it. § Music Sorter § (talk) 06:36, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Would it be a good idea to use a list like for a products/service section like Dell? A list with brief descriptions or is rewriting the paragraphs a better idea? Crisscutfries (talk) 21:26, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Crisscutfries
- I would say if you can describe why the products exist or how they came to be. Maybe you can find information on how they transitioned from one product to the next. You are trying to tell more of a story about the company, than a copy of the web site. Look into the founders and describe what they did before coming to IDT. Maybe there is insight into why they formed the company and how it might have changed over time. Talk about who is running it now and where they came from. I would focus on other parts of the company and leave products for last. In the recent activities, that section is more acquisitions from a quick glance. The format is not very pleasing to the eye. Maybe you can create a table with the most basic elements of each acquisition and then above it create some basic prose into a few paragraphs covering the subject. § Music Sorter § (talk) 06:07, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
