Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Metal Gear Solid 4 do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Hello there. I got your email! Editing a talk page is just the same as editing a normal page =)
There is a fairly massive conflict of interest - the fact that you're the publisher of the link you're trying to include. I don't think it's appropriate for inclusion into the External Links section of pages, but it might be suited to Marketing sections (eg "Konami also licensed the production of an official magazine at (link)"). There's a two different bits on external links on the wiki - one is the video game wiki project which states that only developer, publisher, download and maybe imdb/mobygames should be included. The other is the wikipedia topic on external links which notes You should avoid linking to a website that you own, maintain or represent, even if the guidelines otherwise imply that it should be linked., so good job bringing it up on the talk page. Like I said, I think it's ok to be included in the text of the article, but I don't think it should be in the external links section, that should be kept to just developer and publisher sites. So, in the case of MGS4, it could probably be put in under marketing, but there isn't really anywhere for it in the Ninja Gaiden II article (development isn't really appropriate). Hope that's ok.
Gimme a shout back (on my talk page! =p) if you've any more questions. And thanks for emailing and bringing it up on the talk page instead of descending into an edit war! =) Thanks! Fin© 23:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
