Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Phare Circus

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Phare Circus, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Equine-man (talk) 06:32, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your quick action on my recent submission. I read the guidelines and remained as factual as I could, including ample 3rd party references from reliable sources. The page being submitted is for the social business extension of an existing page: Phare Ponleu Selpak non-profit school. Both the school and the social enterprise have been recognized by public and private sector for the work they do in arts education, poverty alleviation and sustainable tourism. I indeed work for the organization, as I openly disclosed, but it shouldn't detract from the validity or value of the information. Your guidance for improvement would be greatly appreciated. - Hi @Nagol0929, thank you for your reply. I'm not so much disappointed as I am confused and frustrated. I spent hours reading the guidelines. I wrote the post as objectively as I could, referencing respected, reliable, external sources for points made. I also roughly followed the style of the Wikipedia article for our parent organization Phare Ponleu Selpak. I saw that another admin flagged it for deletion, followed immediately by yet another admin rejecting and removing the flag. The messages I got were the perfectly vague template generated materials directing me to the references I'd already read. It would be more helpful to give an example of something written, how it violated the policy and an example of how to correct it. I will check the teahouse and the chat with help from experienced editors, but I'm at a loss. Craig Dodge (talk) 21:18, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi again @Nagol0929. I have edited the draft. Would it be possible to get your feedback before I resubmit it? Craig Dodge (talk) 03:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Craig Dodge: sorry for the late response, but yes I’ll have a look at it. Nagol0929 (talk) 11:38, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- The current version of the article is extremely better than the version I declined. I would accept the article in its current state however I personally will not do it as I might not be completely impartial. Nagol0929 (talk) 11:41, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- For future reference I would look at WP:NPOV and WP:WTW. Also if/when this draft is accepted into an article I would recommend making edit requests in the future. Nagol0929 (talk) 11:51, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you again for your guidance. I've further fixed some language and citations. I'll look again later with fresh eyes before submitting. Once submitted and if accepted, I will indeed make edit requests. I'm wondering if the ample amount of third-party citations wouldn't validate the information as being unbiased? Craig Dodge (talk) 22:48, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Citations mainly provide accreditation of facts and to prove that a subject is notable. If you are directly quoting a citation then I would look at WP:QUOTE and related to that WP:NPS. Mainly articles use citations to back up claims but they dont decide on wording using claims. In short, no amount of citations will make the article unbiased due to the fact that the editors decide the wording. Nagol0929 (talk) 02:51, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you for the feedback. I respect the requirement for in-depth, reliable, secondary and strictly independent sources.
- There are indeed several of those already included: Full, in depth articles on CNN, VOA, NYT and Christian Science Monitor. There are shorter, yet fully dedicated reviews and articles of 2 or more paragraphs on Lonely Planet, Guinness World Records, Event Adelaide and Sydney Scoop.
- I can add a link to a 30-minute Al Jazeera documentary and a full length article on Agence France Presse, but I'm concerned the post already has a relatively large number of citations.
- Could you please clarify the noteworthiness or deficiencies of those above citations? There are indeed others that could be included, but it would help me to know clearly what is insufficient. TourismAdvocate (talk) 01:57, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
