Re: Firefly edits
[edit]Just a heads-up regarding your edits to the Firefly (TV series) article. The content you removed was not vandalism: I've never listened to the song, but if the lyrics are right, it is about the crew getting captured by FOX and escaping with the help of the characters from Futurama.
I've removed the entire paragraph from the article anyway, as it was unsourced, but thought I'd bring it to your attention. If you have any questions about this or Wikipedia in general, or want to discuss this further, feel free to hit me up at User talk:Saberwyn, my communications page. -- saberwyn 02:32, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Capitalization and Ranks
[edit]Hi - the instructions are here: WP:MOSCAPS - scroll down to Military titles. The whole MOS is long and dry but worth reading through if you want articles to go past B-class. Thanks! Kirk (talk) 18:11, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for your appreciation... I have worked a lot in this article, and I try to keep it well balanced. Additionally I work on research as a psychologist, so I am quite used to scientific literature and that's very useful.
On the other hand I have reverted your last edition. The fact that an organization says they are going to study a thing I do not feel is really relevant for an encyclopedic article on the disease while of course it is very relevant for a MS forum. Let's wait until results are published since WP is not a crystal ball, and we do not know if they would be important or not.
- I have also posted the following in the talk page, and I have deleted the sentence from your comment with the link as I feel that it goes against a quite big buch of WP policies. Sorry about it, but a link to a personal histories site can not be allowed.
- This is absolutely premature... and for common sense it should be a very good idea that they waited to know if it really has any effects. I believe that by WP policies (SEE:WP:MEDMOS) in external links which specifically say that Links to personal experiences or survivor stories are forbidden the link should be deleted even from the talk page since it is not directed to improving the article... Talk pages are to talk about how to improve the article, not to create a forum on multiple sclerosis... Bests
- I do not usually modify other people's comments, but this time I have made an exception.

Plastic
[edit]To my ear, saying 'The word "plastic" in "plastic surgery" is the adjective meaning' is just a wordy way of saying '"Plastic" in "plastic surgery" means...' and saying 'does not refer to the noun plastics in the sense...' is just a wordy way of saying 'does not mean plastic in the sense...'. In any case, it is not 'referring' to the noun plastic; it simply is not the noun plastic. As for the "as being used in the procedures", that seems unnecessary. It doesn't refer to synthetic polymers as being used in the procedures or in any other way. --Macrakis (talk) 14:54, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Argiope aurantia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Argiope (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). New medical organization
[edit]Hi
I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.
Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.
Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 07:13, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks so much - will definitely stop by and sign up! --Cpt ricard (talk) 06:32, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
[edit]The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.
- Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
- Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
- If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)
Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 20:36, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Your free Cochrane account is on its way!
[edit]Please fill out this very short form to receive your free access to Cochrane Collaboration's library of medical reviews: Link to form.
If you have any questions, just ask me. Cheers, Ocaasi 13:22, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Medical Translation Newsletter Aug./Sept. 2014
[edit]Medical Translation Newsletter
Issue 2, Aug./Sept. 2014
by CFCF
During August we have translated Disease and it is now live in more than 60 different languages! To help us focus on African languages Rubric has donated a large number of articles in languages we haven't previously reached–so a shout out them, and Ian Henderson from Rubric who's joined us here at Wikipedia. We're very happy for our continued collaboration with both Rubric and Translators without Borders!
- Just some of our over 60 translations:
- New roles and guides!
At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!
- New sign up page!
We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!
- Style guides for translations
Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.
- Some more stats
- In July, 18 full article translations went live (WP:RTT), and an additional 6 simplified versions went live (WP:RTTS)!
- We have a number of new lead integrators into Dutch, Polish, Arabic and Bulgarian, with more to come in smaller languages! (Find them here old sign up page)
- We were mentioned in a Global Voices Online report by Subhashish Panigrahi at Doctors and translators are working together to bridge Wikipedia's medical language gap
- New medical professionals have started, dedicated to working in Odiya and Kinyarwanda!
- Further reading
- Translators Without Borders

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Tonne may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
- ; if describing [[TNT equivalent]] units of energy, this is equivalent to 4.184 [[petajoules]]).

Castoreum
[edit]I reverted your edit in Castoreum because the reference given is in pounds. Normally, citing a quantity should be in the same units as the reference, unless there is a compelling reason to change the units. Please discuss on talk page should you disagree - and should this be deemed a necessary change, please use a more common unit than megagrams (i.e., tons). Regards, Tarl.Neustaedter (talk) 23:07, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
- This is easily one of the most coherent, logical and non-inflammatory reverts I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to post! Additionally, megagrams are equivalent to tons, so they are the better unit to use, but yes I see your point on the quoting. Thanks! Cpt ricard (talk) 20:15, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I certainly understand what megagrams are, the point is that it's an unusual unit (and as such, not a preferred unit in an encyclopedia, better to use "tons" or "metric tons"), as well as not the one used in the reference. One way to handle the multiude of units is to use the "Convert" template, as in: {{Convert|20|lb|kg}} giving "20 pounds (9.1 kg)" . Regards, Tarl.Neustaedter (talk) 20:45, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

National varieties of English
[edit]Hello. In a recent edit to the page Forge FC, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:32, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
