George Wright Young House
[edit]Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article George Wright Young House are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! • Gene93k (talk) 09:55, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Gillespie Godfrey Boyd
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gillespie Godfrey Boyd, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Hagiographical article about someone's relative who served in WWII. Sounds like a good guy but he does not seem to have been unusually distinguished. Fails WP:N and there are also COI issues
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. andy (talk) 00:17, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey there
[edit]I read your article on Gillespie Godfrey Boyd, and I must say that's a well-written article, and I can only imagine how much work you must have put into it. Unfortunately the article does not meet WP:N guidelines (but that shouldn't discourage you from continuing to edit Wikipedia). You're a great asset to Wiki and I look forward to your future edits. Best to you. Antivenin 17:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- It pains me, too, that a person considered a hero by many isn't considered notable by Wiki guidelines. But what's important to understand is that there are many, many war heroes around the world, and devoting an article to each of them would be an impossible task (logistically, as well as the space needed). I'll reiterate, G G Boyd was a good man, and your article was very well written, but I can't see anything that warrants a separate article for him. It might seem unfair that Google is being used as the 'arbiter', but since we have no better tool to assess notability, we must make do with what we have got. (Note, the very nature of Google makes it a good way to assess notability. Those terms, names, or phrases that are mentioned often end up higher in search results.)
- Regards,

[edit]I moved a copy of your article here. Create a login and continue editing. I also suggest you add a copy to Knol, by registering there. The key to making information last for the next 100 years is to make as many copies as you can in as many media as you can. Another good place to leave a copy is Google pages. Another good thing to do is scan the letters and add them to a free Flickr account, and add the transcription. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. If you're happy that this is the way to proceed, could you replace the entire content of the wikipedia article with {{db-author}} ? This will get it deleted with honour satisfied. Cheers, andy (talk) 23:39, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
