RfB

Forgive me for spamming your talk page again, but I wanted to say that I wasn't quite satisfied with the first time you declined my offer for you to run a RfB. As you said yourself, redundancy is good. You are one of the admins who would be best fit for being a bureaucrat, in my opinion, especially when I consider that you're probably the person who replied to the most RfAs in the past year and you're also the administrator with the most rights changes, according to the admin action statistics. If Maxim and Hersfold did it, why not you? ;) — Waterfox ~talk~ 01:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

...I think a no is a no? There's more to consider than just "you tick the right boxes". sonia 01:45, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I know that there's more to it than that. I have seen Courcelles' responses to RfAs, and he takes in consideration not only his own thinking, but also that of the others. He doesn't take !voting lightly and his answers are always of the most comprehensive and sophisticated. I often find myself agreeing with said !votes, more than those of anybody else. Courcelles understands that there's more to !voting than just S/O/N alignment, and that's a quality which is looked for in a bureaucrat. — Waterfox ~talk~ 02:29, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
I'll consider it... Courcelles 08:22, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

A new "Kim Lee" page is needed

Greetings. You recently deleted the page for "Kim Lee", since it was indeed about a specific person who does not meet the notability criterion. However, the page needs to be up again but strictly as a REDIRECT to the Kim Lee (disambiguation) page. The reason is there are numerous persons with that or a similar name, with many of them notable enough to have their biographies in Wikipedia. I already submitted here a request to UNDELETE.-The Gnome (talk) 10:40, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, good idea. I moved the disambiguation page over, no undeletion is required in this case, as the only history that matters is the one at the disambiguation title, which was moved as well. Courcelles 18:09, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Yao Ming on ITN?

Can you explain to me how Yao Ming's retirement is worthy of inclusion on the ITN template? He's not one of the all-time greats, and surely there's more important news going on right now in the world? – PeeJay 13:53, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

At the time it went up, there was a consensus at WP:ITN/C that it merited inclusion in the section. If there is no longer such a consensus, (and I haven't looked today), someone will remove it. Courcelles 18:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

About a deleted page

Dear Courcelles

You have achieved the deletion of a page. If I have new arguments against your decision, may I discuss that with you, or should I proceed in an other way?

thanks --Amintib (talk) 16:16, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Please discuss them here, and please mention which page you are talking about. (Your account has no deleted edits, or edits to an AFD that ended in delete, so I have little idea what you are discussing at his moment.) Courcelles 17:21, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

You disrespect me, a dolt!

You failed to read my information that you supposed to place the information in my comment area, not under photography gallery so I am deleting your information without reading your information. I don't cooperate with wikipedians who disrespected my information as "I also delete messages without reading them if they are not in comment space. I will not read messages if they are under photographes space, userboxes space, or Cculber007 profile." I am removing the information off without reading so I don't read yours. I split on disrespectful and rude wikipedians. If you repost same under my photography gallery again then I will continue removing until you read my information and put information in right place. There is your "unread" information back.Culby (talk) 03:30, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Really, dude? Wikipedia takes a mellow attitude to enjoy. Automated tools do these kind of things. Won't be the last time Twinkle drops something like this on you if you're going to upload images here, and no one who is using it will ever look at your talk page before the note is left. These talk page notes are a courtesy, and I surely did not deserve this level of vitriol in response. Courcelles 03:44, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Diligent

First time that ever happened to me, we both blocked him within seconds of each other (me 2 weeks, you a month). Mine came after yours, so I upped it back to a month, which I'd almost lengthened it to anyway. Gwen Gale (talk) 22:28, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

No worries, I'm not overly fussed about the length, as long as Diligent gets the message that what he did was unacceptable. Courcelles 22:50, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Now That's What I Call R&B

You deleted the article for Now That's What I Call R&B following the discussion that took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Now That's What I Call R&B (2nd nomination), but shouldn't the article, Now That's What I Call I Wanna Rock, have been deleted, too, as part of the same discussion? Thanks. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 22:00, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Yep, you're right. It's deleted now, sorry for the oversight. Courcelles 22:03, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

SPI help?

After reading the SPI, I think I'm going to leave that one for someone else to handle. Courcelles 17:20, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Average Joe's Entertainment

Just wondering what made the previous version of Average Joe's Entertainment a possible hoax. What was in the prior version? Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 23:26, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, not really sure. The old version is at User:Courcelles/Average Joe's Entertainment for you to look at (note I took the maintenance tags off, so look at what it looked at before my revisions.) Courcelles 23:38, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
Looked fine to me. I asked the tagger. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 00:32, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
You can delete that draft. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 02:31, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Someone already did. :) Courcelles 19:15, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Will you unprotect this talk page?

The one referenced here? thank. Merrill Stubing (talk) 13:21, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

The sockpuppetry was actually fairly bad, and the case is even more in the news now than it was then. I'm going to leave it protected for the time being. Courcelles 17:21, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
This excludes a substantial number of valid users in violation of policy. The wiki that anyone can edit. I'd like to resolve this here on this level if at all possible Merrill Stubing (talk) 04:21, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Semi-protection is not a violation of the principle that anyone can edit, it just puts the minor hurdle of ten edits elsewhere and four days of age on an account. The disruption from IP's and sockpuppets was a great amount of trouble on that page, and I don't see it getting unprotected any time soon. Courcelles 20:59, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Is there any chance you would reconsider? I'd hate to have to ask on RPP or other venues again and bypass you. Merrill Stubing (talk) 04:20, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
No, there's really not. Unprotection on this article, and then on the talk page, was a complete disaster. Some pages just can't function without it, and MoMK and the talk page are two of those. Courcelles 14:04, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

25year award at FLC

hi, you brought up some concerns almost a month ago now at it's FLC page, and I have added references and fixed what I believe your concerns were. I was wondering if you would take another look at the article as it has just been sitting in limbo in FLC for quite some time now. thanks.--Found5dollar (talk) 16:52, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

I really don't see notability yet, at least not solidly. Also, reference 3 is dead. Courcelles 14:45, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

DRV

Hi Courcelles - I figured I'd ask you about this since we've interacted in the past and since you appear to be one of the admins who deals with DRV stuff. I'm currently involved in the DRV for Marcus Bachmann, and while some useful discussion over process is being generated, it's also ending up that people are just re-fighting the AfD. I guess some of that is unavoidable, but would it help to mark whether a user voting in the DRV had been involved or uninvolved in the AfD? Roscelese (talkcontribs) 15:45, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Not really. At least when I do it, I take notice of that in the closing process. (None of our deletion processes take as long to close as even a mildly contentious DRV.) Although it might be nice if participants would declare this in their comments, I'd not be in favour of commenting on it or tagging people's comments. Courcelles 17:43, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Can I see you in IRC about this article? User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:54, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

For the record, because I've got a good chance to forget, though undocumented in this AFD, the main article was a foundational copyvio, of, among other things [1]. Courcelles 23:08, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
But as I mentioned, I am affiliated with the American ATO and I won't involve myself in any discussions about deletion/restoration of the article unless just for general background info. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 23:21, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Disregard for protocols

Hi, you left a message on User talk:Lloydbaltazar back in Jan 2011 so may be the right person to act. This user and his IPs are running a large tab of warnings and complaints by having no respect for WP:V. I think needs a block. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 01:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, my warning was over photos, and he doesn't seem to have uploaded anything since that warning... I see the problem, though. (though I see no need to drop another warning after yours.) If he continues, take him to ANI. Courcelles 10:44, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Ok, can try that. But there have just been too man unsourced additions there. Anway, will see what happens. History2007 (talk) 19:51, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

LOL.

Okay, you can close the rest of the AFDs. But if there ever was any doubt, now there won't be... causa sui (talk) 03:09, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Heh... it occurred to me that if those had been ran as a single AFD, life would have been much easier... Courcelles 10:24, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

As the person who closed relatively recently the AFD for the group of Philippine Fraternities, could you take a look to see if the newly created page at TAU ALPHA OMEGA is any different than what was in Tau Alpha Omega when it was deleted? I was going to move TAU ALPHA OMEGA to the lower case version, but I wanted to ask first.Naraht (talk) 13:02, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Looks like someone already did the G4. Courcelles 21:42, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

ACC

I noticed that you were an admin on the ACC and I have a quick question: I submitted my ACC account request a few days ago and I was just wondering how I will be notified if/when my request is approved/denied. Thanks, Theking17825 06:39, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

On your talk or via email, afaik. sonia 06:56, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Great, thanks... Theking17825 06:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Sonia is right, though, for the record, I'm not really an admin on the ACC system, and have no involvement with handling access requests -- my admin flag is only to let me see and deal with requests deferred to checkusers. Courcelles 07:16, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
