Northwestern

[edit]

Hi @CosmosWiki,

The issue with using certain words with no agreed upon definition is that often it can be challenged. Considering that members who joined the AAU prior to Northwestern indicate that there's likely been discussion against using such language likely as a result of MOS:PUFFERY, WP:ASSERT (what is early? It's hard to indicate that as a fact since there are unlikely to use that language which has been a talking point regarding postnominals as well. By contrast, a year is a fact and there are sources to prove the year. Arguing for "early" would likely be unproductive since the WP:ONUS would be on the person hoping to readd that information which should also tag any recent editors on the talk page. I imagine that's also why the R1 statement is written the way it is on elsewhere. In both cases, this helps clear violations of WP:BOOSTER and to "[a]llow the facts to speak for themselves and let the reader decide." The same page states "Notable distinctions and recognition have their place in the article, but they should not be the primary focus of the article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia to summarize and contextualize information about these complex institutions, not an admissions brochure to convince readers of the quality of the school." The page also links to general consensus in regards to writing university articles.

On a sidenote, I've noticed that you seem to only be focused on Northwestern University. I'm just curious on why that was? I generally run across multiple editors across multiple universities but realized I've only seen you on that one.

Hope you're having a good day. Wozal (talk) 19:45, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It said early member before I even started editing. I checked this page it seemed lacking compared to other ones at the same level, that's why I started with this article. Now this one only needs few extensions in research part, other than that it seems like it may even be categorized as a good article. I will start editing Penn, Duke, and Hopkins later on@Wozal.
