Christiana Haag tombstone

[edit]

It appears that this photo was either photoshopped or the lettering on the tombstone was artificially altered. Can you explain what was done in taking/editing this image? Thanks. MarconiCheese (talk) 23:50, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The only Photoshopping I did to the photo was overall color correction (mainly white-balancing, which I pretty much do to every photo) and cropping (I made a horizontal picture vertical). The tombstone is a known local oddity in that area, and with that in mind, someone at some point (not me) colored the letters to make them more distinct, but that was done on the tombstone itself and matches the indentations done for the original lettering (although whoever did it didn't stay entirely within the lines, but when you look at the indentations, you can tell there really is nothing else it could be). As for how I took the photo, I just had an Olympus point-and-shoot camera and used automatic settings, no flash and no tripod. I'd love to take a more detailed and close-up photo to prove the indentations (as I do have a much better camera now, and I actually would like a better picture of the tombstone), but as I no longer have family living in that area, I don't have any other reason to visit, and that's a long way to go for a photo. If you have any other questions, I will be happy to try to answer them. Corfy (talk) 15:07, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that's really helpful. The lettering did look quite odd, and it wasn't clear if it was on the stone itself or in the editing. Thanks for your detailed and helpful response. MarconiCheese (talk) 18:23, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
