Proposed deletion of Stanley Kubrick Collection

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Stanley Kubrick Collection, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:38, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Dr. Anton Phibes

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dr. Anton Phibes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ironholds 13:39, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Powell And Pressburger Collection requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Speedy deletion of Template:Horror Icons

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Horror Icons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

no meaningful content

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Template:Horror Icons|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ford MF (talk) 20:32, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Take a second and read some stuff

[edit]

Hi, I just figured I'd drop a note so at least someone is approaching you with more than just cut-and-paste warning. As evidenced from the warnings above and the number of categories you created that are up for deletion at WP:CFD today, and the sheer number of your recent edits that are being undone or reverted (which will turn out to be pretty much all of them, if those categories are deleted as I think they will be), I think you should stop and take a second to rethink your contributions here before creating any more new articles or categories. I think that for the moment your enthusiasm is leading you astray.

I've placed a {{welcome}} template at the head of this page, and I strongly urge you to read at least a few of the links therein, particularly our guidelines on notability and reliable sourcing and categorization before proceeding. You've demonstrated a willingness to put in a good deal of work on the project, which is commendable, and now I think you need to work on learning the ropes so your edits aren't all for naught. Editing Wikipedia isn't difficult, but editing it so that your changes will be recognized as worthwhile and will persist into the future can be. If you need any assistance, just drop a note on my talkpage. Ford MF (talk) 20:40, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for Discussion

[edit]

I believe you were attempting to add the Category:Alien (franchise) films to the Categories for Discussion page. All you ended up doing, however, was adding the Categories for Discussion page itself to the Category:Alien (franchise) films category. To add a category to the discussion list please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion#Procedure. If you need help, please don't hesitate to ask me. -- JediLofty UserTalk 13:02, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Thanks for your quick reply. Speedy Deletion category A1 only applies to articles, not categories. What is it about the Category:Alien (franchise) films that you are objecting to? (P.S. to sign your name on talk pages, use four tildes (~~~~). That will automatically add your signature and the date and time). -- JediLofty UserTalk 13:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Again, I'm not sure what it is about the category that you are objecting to. If you tell me, in your own words, what the problem is, maybe I can help? -- JediLofty UserTalk 13:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still a little confused. The Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection discussion is talking about merging to the Alien (franchise) article. It has nothing to do with the Category:Alien (franchise) films category. See Wikipedia:What is an article? and Help:Category for the differences between articles and categories. -- JediLofty UserTalk 14:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August 2008

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Bride of Frankenstein, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please stop

[edit]

Please stop adding Category:Pre-1960 horror film stubs to non-stub articles. Please undo the edits you have done so far. Thank you. Otto4711 (talk) 19:12, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify - a "stub" is a placeholder for a real article used to get things started. The vast majority of the articles you've added this category to are not stubs. Please read the link, and help clean up that category. Thanks. Kuru talk 20:44, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing, such as the edit you made to Bride of Frankenstein. If your vandalism continues, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Otto4711 (talk) 19:26, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disruption

[edit]

You should have been notified about this, but there is a discussion about your edits here. Because you are making so many changes, and not reacting to other editors' concerns, I have blocked you indefinitely for disruption- this does not mean forever, but until you have had a chance to read the above thread, and indicate here that you understand those concerns. If you wish to comment, you may do so here, and I will, if necessary, copy those comments to that noticeboard. Meanwhile, your edits will be looked at, because they need to have some reason, and at present, it's not apparent what that is. --Rodhullandemu 22:55, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
