C2 vs. C3 series

[edit]

If Minnesota gets at least a point tonight against Vancouver could you add what you currently have on the Minnesota/St. Louis preview to the main article? We would have to leave it hidden until the seedings are determined, but the series between the two teams would be confirmed with that result. Deadman137 (talk) 12:48, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: Yes, I can. Conyo14 (talk) 22:49, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Series previews

[edit]

I'm waiting on the Tampa game to go final, the other three Eastern series are all yours. Deadman137 (talk) 01:55, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was doing my usual pre-reading and the Avalanche and Rangers have met in the playoffs before. They met once in 1995 before the Avalanche left Quebec City when they were the Nordiques. Deadman137 (talk) 22:31, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate it!Conyo14 (talk) 23:10, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Leafs losing streak

[edit]

We probably should mention it now, not sure yet where to put it. I'll see what I can come up with once the recap link and remaining citation is finished. Deadman137 (talk) 02:00, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I lied, I figured it out while I was waiting. Would you mind helping out with List of NHL franchise post-season droughts? Having lots of issues with IP disruptive editing. Deadman137 (talk) 02:11, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

[edit]

I do not want an answer on this tonight. I'm thinking that we might be able to work the content of this article [1] into the lead. I'm obviously not too big on trivia, but this one is a rare enough event to consider adding. I'm just looking to see what you think about it.

On a side note, great work so far with the summaries. I don't think that I've even added 10 words across the 8 summaries, because you've been that good. Deadman137 (talk) 07:20, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: I think it can be added, but I might also mention how there were 5 Game 7's in the first round, which hasn't happened since 1992.
I appreciate it! You've been doing well too! I think it also helps that there haven't been too many issues this year with IP's or troublesome editors.Conyo14 (talk) 16:49, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely agree that all of that belongs in the article. I did find another trivia item today that could be added to the Calgary and Edmonton series. Apparently this is the first playoff series since the 2009 Pittsburgh and Washington series where the two leading scorers from the regular season are playing against each other in the playoffs. I'm sitting on it because I don't really want to open the door for the possibility of other similar types of edits that could follow it, as it is borderline at best.
We haven't had too many issues with the main article this year as most of the vandalism has been one and done, though some of the support articles have had problems with inexperienced editors being combative and uncivil. It's the same crap as every other year, but it generally is lower than it has been in the last two years. We likely will need to keep an eye on the Edmonton Oilers' article as it's current year and the internet. The Flames' article won't suffer from vandalism during this round as it's under protection until June 8. The other six team articles could have some issues but it's nothing that we can't handle.
Thank you for thinking that I've been doing good work, personally I felt that some of my work in the opening round was a bit more sloppy than the standard that I'm used to. It is possible that I'm just be hard on myself, but what else is new? Your work in opening round is some of the best that I've seen from you, and we both know that that's saying something. Deadman137 (talk) 23:57, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Deadman137: The team articles tend to have a lot of traffic right after their season ends. I figure the rivalry articles might also get some more traffic as a result of these Second Round series. I'll try to mitigate the rivalry articles a bit, particularly the Battle of Alberta.
The trivia about the leading scorers should not be added since Ovechkin had the most goals compared to Malkin back 2009, whereas now it is not Matthews against McDavid.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Your work is very important to these articles. I have had a lot of time to work on recaps and plus with the experience I have now, it helps. I appreciate it though, 7th year in the job and I ought to be somewhat experienced in this.Conyo14 (talk) 03:05, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, Canadian hockey fans are an interesting bunch. A lot of them think that because they're Canadian that they inherently know everything about the game and then they open their mouth or start typing and quickly reveal the opposite. Though at this time of year that's just normal daily life up here. Plus it generally amuses me to let people like that talk just to see how far from reality some of them can get.
I know the value of our work, though it's a good thing that you only see the final draft of the game summaries. There were a few days last round where if I had published the initial draft you might have questioned what on earth was I doing? After a 51 game first round I'm dialed back in. It is hard to believe that it's been seven years, I was looking at that last week and was surprised that it had been that long, but at least we've had a lot of good days doing this and very few bad ones. Experience does help, but having the ability to write and do it well is crucial and thankfully we both bring those skills. Deadman137 (talk) 04:23, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tampa Bay series streak

[edit]

Looks like we'll need to figure out what to write about their tenth consecutive series victory soon enough, unless Florida can make their own history worthy comeback. I was thinking that in the series summary maybe we should limit it to just mentioning the Islanders dynasty as the last team to accomplish that feat. In the lead it could be fleshed out a bit more to also include the two times that Montreal did the same. Thoughts? Deadman137 (talk) 21:05, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: Agreed. Depending on how many series they win this playoff year, we can append to the lead how they join Montreal and New York in this category. For now, the mention in the series recap and an addendum to the lead regarding them being the first since New York works just fine.Conyo14 (talk) 22:36, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When you get a chance take a look at the East final preview. I found a way to work the Lightning's seventh appearance in, it might need some tweaking, but I finally figured out a way to make it workable. Deadman137 (talk) 13:01, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Stanley Cup playoffs Comment

[edit]

Hello. You reverted my edit to the article which was made by a sock of an indeffed user. You claimed the revert was "unexplained content revision". https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2022_Stanley_Cup_playoffs&oldid=prev&diff=1089760854 An SPI exists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Moka_Mo and waiting for admin action. Regards,   Aloha27  talk  14:47, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aloha27: I realize that you are removing a sock puppet account. However, the edit(s) made were verified stats. It would seem inappropriate to rescind good work on this article despite the errors/edit wars made on other articles.Conyo14 (talk) 16:19, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sockpuppet edits may be removed immediately without explanation or discussion to/with whomever made them. Regards,   Aloha27  talk  20:00, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Aloha27: Hence my explanation. Thank you though, I appreciate the transparency!Conyo14 (talk) 20:44, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's getting a tad tiresome ferreting out his/her socks. Getting pretty close to WP:LTA in my opinion. Have a good evening.   Aloha27  talk  23:08, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quick note

[edit]

Thanks for the earlier clean up. Quick heads up, if you see edits from 50.65.26.228 it's Rupertslander, they're not anywhere near as unhinged as their "incident" last year. Though they just can't keep their fingers out of the cookie jar. Deadman137 (talk) 01:24, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Good to knowConyo14 (talk) 03:17, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Overtime winner

[edit]

Watch out for the time of the goal being changed to 11:58 from the currently listed 12:02. Deadman137 (talk) 03:51, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: I also notice the shot counter increases after the game has already ended too. I'm sure we'll get more details later. Conyo14 (talk) 03:56, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do not get me started on the statisticians in Tampa this year, there have been many issues with them during the playoffs. I'll keep an eye out for any further changes. Deadman137 (talk) 04:00, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 playoffs

[edit]

After 89 games we have made it through another year. Of all the years that you've worked on these articles this was your best year so far. Deadman137 (talk) 03:27, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: Beat me to it by two minutes. Thank you! Congrats to you as well. We had our work cut out for us with the very little IP and disruptive users this year. I think my skills are only to improve from here on out. You are a great editor to work with, can't wait for the next year's playoffs!Conyo14 (talk) 03:32, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm looking forward to it too, plus maybe we'll get April playoff games next year. 113 playoff series plus whatever the 2020 round-robin is classified as in seven years. Here's hoping that the path forward is similarly as clear as this playoff year was. Deadman137 (talk) 03:59, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for 2022 Stanley Cup Finals

[edit]

On 27 June 2022, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:48, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff brackets

[edit]

This is not something that you need to do anything about. Looks like all of the professional sports playoff brackets have run afoul of MOS:COLOR. So if the brackets in the playoff articles look different, now you know why. Deadman137 (talk) 23:11, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deadman137: Is there any reason why it has changed across the board?Conyo14 (talk) 17:07, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's a few template editors going through everything using WCAG as their basis for removing all of this. Admittedly I don't normally pay attention to the goings on over there so I didn't notice until I got tagged on my page. Deadman137 (talk) 20:11, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
