- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!
Image copyright problem with File:AnPhoblacht1981LeinsterHouse.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:AnPhoblacht1981LeinsterHouse.jpg.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stefan2 (talk) 21:13, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 26
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Direct Democracy Ireland, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Trim (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Syrian civil war
[edit]SOHR is not a reliable source except what you remove was cited to The Australian, which is a reliable source. Do not use false edit summaries, and do not remove reliable sourced content. Darkness Shines (talk) 09:13, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- The Australian simply regurgitated what SOHR said. There is no independent verification aside from claims of some guy sitting in a house in Coventry. Therefore it is completely untrue to say that "The death toll was updated to 145". No it wasn't, a claim was made by a person sitting hundreds of miles away in his house in England.--CommieMark (talk) 09:27, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Really? Says who? You are more than welcome to take it to the RSN board. But in a nutshell, what you think about "some guy sitting in a house in Coventry" has no bearing in the matter, the Australian is RS by all Wiki policies so unless you get a consensus to say it is not, do not remove the content again. [edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did at Syrian civil war, you may be blocked from editing. Darkness Shines (talk) 09:49, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- There was no disruptive editing. Read the link and you will see that the edit is in line with what is said in the piece. Sopher99 intentionally did not include all the information from the link --CommieMark (talk) 09:52, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

- Dear Mark, You probably won't take the advise, but, one, you have decided to battle a person with roll back authority and other privileges -- and while he is not an administrator he or she is as close to being one without being one. And you can never win a battle with an administrator or one that is almost an administrator. Second, even if you had not decided to battle with the wrong person, you were standing on good ground until you wanted to take a swipe at two editors with that section naming on TALK pages, that is a big no-no on talk pages. And at last three. Please read this WP essay. It will save you a lot or heart ache (and the poor cat or dog being kicked around) if you decide to stay with WP. One, an older (and I am old) WP editor several years ago told me "..not to worry about edit reverts or deletion. Move on to the next edit." Very good advise. To wit, edit wars never are worth it. To much energy. Best of Luck! Jack E. HammondJackehammond (talk) 10:42, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

DYK for NI21
[edit]On 7 July 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article NI21, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that NI21 intends to be the first official opposition in the Northern Ireland Assembly? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/NI21. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

You couldn't help me improve the above article. Said I'd create it, since it's featured so prominently in the media recently. Some mutual acquaintances of ours are involved in that "trust" lol.

File permission problem with File:Brian Stanley TD Sinn Féin.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Brian Stanley TD Sinn Féin.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Blurred Lines 14:22, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello, CommieMark
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Govvy, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Wowburger, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Govvy}}
. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!
