I have revised the Banner & Witcoff page so it includes many more citations and removed any content that was not neutral and factual. Will these citations establish the notability of the page and remove the flag? Thank you!

I want to make sure that this article about Banner & Witcoff is completely neutral and contains all of the necessary references in order for it to stay published. Are there any specific changes that you would like for me to make? Thank you.

  • I think there may be a case that this is a notable law firm, but if a number of potentially relevant documents are behind paywalls then this is difficult to verify. Another issue with this article is that it feels a bit like a PR piece. It would help if there were about five articles from major newspapers or magazines like the Wall Street Journal that mention this firm when talking about significant legal cases or the state of IP law or legal practice. I am not yet convinced that the cleanup tag should be removed. I am also concerned about the potential conflict of interest that another editor mentioned below. If you would like to discuss any of these issues, I would suggest that you visit #wikipedia-en-help connect. Finally, I suggest that you format this talk page in chronological order from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom because this is the convention here on English Wikipedia. Good luck with your editing. Pine 07:06, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Colleen Strasser, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Banner & Witcoff, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Hi! How do I change the name of a Wikipedia page? Colleen Strasser (talk) 15:59, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The process of page renaming is described at Wikipedia:Moving a page.
If you're new to Wikipedia editing, perhaps posting a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves would be a better idea than performing the move yourself though.
In fact, feel free to post your move request here, and I'll be happy to review it for you. 78.28.44.31 (talk) 16:34, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Colleen Strasser. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Banner & Witcoff, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. - RichT|C|E-Mail 21:46, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
