STS-127
[edit]Altough i do agree that the patch does not belong in the article, because it has not yet been released yet, i would like to provide some comments, based on this statement by you: "Removed patch image; the insignia has not been released by NASA and was provided by the artists to collectSPACE; it was copied without permission and uploaded here without attribution"
- The artists work for NASA, so by definition, it is a US government work in that case and thus Public Domain (making the upload and usage perfectly legal)
- As being a PD work, we don't need permission from collectSPACE (or the artists)
- Wikipedia does not provide attribution in captions or something. All attribution (including for this image) is provided on the page of the image. That page does state that the original source is CollectSpace.
Lastly, I would like to point at the fact that WP:USERNAME discourages registering and using accounts that clearly represent a company or a group. You should consider changing your username. --TheDJ (talk • contribs) 15:40, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- The artists do not work for NASA. They are private citizens who were approached by the crew for assistance designing the patch. As such, until NASA releases the artwork, it is not public domain (which is why collectSPACE needed to obtain permission to post the art).
- With regards to my username, I will consider registering a second account under a more appropriate name and leaving the 'collectSPACE' account dormant so as to prevent others from using it and misrepresenting our publication or myself. --collectSPACE (talk) 16:14, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi CS, I'd just like to add a request that you review Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy, since it is quite apparent from your name, and your edits, that the majority of your edits are centered around the website this username represents. Please use caution when editing that you remain neutral, and not edit in the interest of the Collectspace.com site. Thanks, Ariel♥Gold 17:17, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
