Jack Berman

[edit]

Hey there. Just wanted to let you know that I've done a rewrite on the Jack Berman article, to put in some more Wiki-style formatting, and to try and bring out the notability of the subject, from a neutral perspective. I hope you're okay with the way I put it together. Don't be too upset if it winds up being deleted, though - Wikipedia's got some very strict rules about notability and inclusion in the encyclopedia. Cheers. Tony Fox 04:53, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry you feel the way you do. I realize it's something you feel strongly about as it was your father and he died tragically when you were very young.

We do, however, have guidelines for who merits Wikipedia articles and who doesn't ... see WP:BIO. Those are based on what someone did in their lifetime, not how they died (A college friend of mine died in this horror, for instance, and a scholarship is named after her in her hometown. But she wouldn't merit a separate article and I wouldn't dream of starting one.

My suggestion to you ... can you remake the article into one about the 101 California Street shootings, and include biographical sketches of all the victims? You might not be able to include as much about your father as you have already, but it would be the best way to remember him and make Wikipedia a better, more thorough encyclopedia.

If you do that, I would strongly consider withdrawing the deletion nomination (which would end the discussion) and I will say so there.

(BTW, just so you know, I have done, and continue to do a lot here on Wikipedia besides review new articles for deletion. I'm sorry that rubbed you the wrong way. I tried to be gentle in the deletion nomination, because it was obvious to me that it was written by someone who cared about its subject very deeply. Other people have put up memorial pages; it's never fun for any of us when we have to tell them this isn't the place for it. Once again, I'm very sorry for upsetting you). Don't worry at all. I like what you're doing and I see from your newly-created user page that you're understanding what Wikipedia is all about. I look forward to more contributions from you.

If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Daniel Case 01:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey - thought I'd drop a note and say 'good start' on the 101 California Street Shootings article, and to maybe give a bit of feedback so you can work on improving it (call it a learning experience, I suppose). First off, I'd suggest changing it to follow the standard Wikipedia article style, with a short introduction that summarizes the article, then goes into the detail. You might want to break it down after that with a section describing the shootings (there should be lots of info in the newspaper articles you linked to for building this), then a section on the victims, and finally a section on 'reaction' or something similar where you can discuss the legal action that took place afterwards. Good job so far, and I hope you can keep filling it in. Cheers! Tony Fox 19:18, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is this page actually about? Because it's in main namepsace and I don't think it should be. Surely it should be located at User:Cocopuffberman/gallery/yosemite? -- Francs2000 17:05, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The same with Cocopuffberman/gallery/maui, you may want to page move it to User:Cocopuffberman/gallery/maui--blue520 17:08, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FmmLogo.jpg

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Free Music Maker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
