- Hi, what's your question? Go Phightins! 00:52, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hello... I am needing some help with the page Jack Maloof. He is my father and asked me to update his wiki page with updated and correct info. I have made the updates but it appears they may be viewed now as COI. Can you help me with this? He was promoted today by the KC Royals as their new Hitting Coach. Here are a number of news links today verifying his promotion as well as most of the information on his wiki page:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/baseball/mlb/wires/10/24/2010.ap.bba.royals.coaches.0150/
I can provide more links if needed. In addition, here's more reference material on his player/coaching stats to verify the info. on his wiki page: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=maloof001jac http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Jack_Maloof
I simply need someone to assist me with non-COI verification so the tags at the top of his page can be removed. Can someone help with this? 98.165.10.167 (talk) 01:09, 25 October 2012 (UTC)cobrafromzona
- Have a look at WP:AUTOBIO, some of the guidelines here might be relevant, and COI might be unavoidable. Leave it to someone else. -- Patchy1 01:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks... "leaving it to someone else" is what I'm trying to ask for help with. I don't want/need to be the author or primary source for the info on the page. As the subject's son, I simply wanted to make sure all of his information was correct. I agree, I need someone else (you?) to concur that the information I have on the page is consistent with the various links and references I've provided. Hopefully someone with admin ability who can then remove the CIO tag at the top of the page. Can you assist with this? cobrafromzona (talk) 01:40, 25 October 2012 (UTC)cobrafromzona
- Anyone can add and remove the tags at the top of articles (with the exception of article deletion tags), but to remove it you must have fixed the problem. I don't know enough about the subject to contribute constructively, go to WP:BASEBALL where you are likely to find someone who is. -- Patchy1 02:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, yes I have already gone into the 'Jack Maloof' talk page, located the Baseballproject page and have created a new thread requesting a 'baseball editor' review the page and hopefully concur with the info and remove the tags for me. I don't believe I can remove them myself because I am the subject of the potential COI. I guess I just wait until someone replies and offers to help - thanks. cobrafromzona (talk) 02:29, 25 October 2012 (UTC)cobrafromzona
- I can help with this, but it's going to have to be tomorrow. Too tired tonight. I heard a request came into WP:BASEBALL and I'll look in to the article tomorrow. Thanks for your concern. Go Phightins! 02:30, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- No problem at all and thank you for your offer to help. Yes, tomorrow will be fine... I will be around all day. Thanks again! cobrafromzona (talk) 02:45, 25 October 2012 (UTC)cobrafromzona
