I noticed that you copied the text of the article direct from the source you linked to. Do you own the copyright to the other site? If not, that could be a copyright infringement. ...Scott5114 18:47, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good job making it into a stub - I'm flagging it with {{road-stub}} (for other stub templates see WP:WSS). If you want to expand it, use that first source, as well as others on the Internet and in print to add information.
What I did when I expanded the Kansas Turnpike article was to go though Google and also brochures, pamphlets, maps, etc. and look for interesting, unusual information. As I found it I added the essence of it (not word-for-word) to a bulleted list (jotting down where I got it from). After I thought I had enough info I worked each little note in with the others. I found that just having the main interesting points of each source kept me from copying it too closely, and also allowed me to work everything in easier. Then it was just a matter of including the sources using <ref> tags....Scott5114 01:04, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Rufa2007.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rufa2007.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:15, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Wikimedia Pennsylvania

[edit]

Hello there!

I'm writing to inform you that we are now forming the first local Wikimedia Chapter in the United States: Wikimedia Pennsylvania. Our goals are to perform outreach and fundraising activities on behalf of the various Wikimedia projects. If you're interested in being a part of the chapter, or just want to know more, you can:

Thanks and I hope you join up! Cbrown1023 talk 02:52, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to quickly let you know that you photos have been moved to Fargesia 'Rufa'. I and others from WikiProject Plants looked into it and determined that the plant sold as Fargesia rufa in the western horticultural trade is actually not that species, but rather a cultivar of some other species (most likely F. dracocephala). Thanks for your contribution! Djlayton4 | talk | contribs 02:01, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ice hockey

[edit]

If you don't mind me asking, how often do you go to hockey games? Only reason I know that you've gone to at least one before is because of the pictures you've uploaded (that have been very helpful, so thank you for them), and was wondering if you have more or could possibly take more. BsroiaadnTalk 19:52, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, that would be good. Thank you. Tell me when you upload them and give me a link to your flickr. BsroiaadnTalk 00:35, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr permissions

[edit]

FYI, copied from User talk:Jappalang and User talk:Ruhrfisch:

Hi Jappalang, a user on Flickr who has many photos of Pennsylvania state parks has agreed in a Flickr email to me to license all of them for use here (CC-BY-SA license). The problem is that they are all under the default all rights reserved licens on Flickr now. Does he have to manually change the license of each photo we would want to use? Or could he send an email to OTRS that would suffice (and then we could upload the images that were useful and add a template with the OTRS ticket / permission)? Or would posting something on his Flickr page saying he released the PA state park photos under the CC-BY-SA license suffice? Thanks in advance for your advice on this, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:39, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Any one of the three methods you describe could do, although there would be some possible issues for some.
  • User changes license of the images: could be tedious for him, but this would assure the Flickr bot would approve if another image is uploaded.
  • User sends in OTRS: if the photos are contained in a Set, then this would be the best option, since he would only have to state that the photos in that set (with the Set's link) are licensed as such. If they are not in a Set, then it might be problematic as the locations of the photos to be uploaded have to be stated in the email. Declaring all of his photos in his account as licensed might bring other unintended problems, such as unintentionally putting personal photos under the license. A restriction, such as stating "only photos of the Park", might be hard to discern if he has photos of other parks in this path. The OTRS option is best if the user has categorised the photos of the park in a Set.
  • Stating the licensing in his Flickr profile: if he has photos of other parks under his flickr name, this might cause some confusion. Furthermore, users/reviewers have to go to the user's profile to verify the license (which might not be obvious).
Overall, go for the OTRS if the photos are in a Set. If not, changing the license on Flickr is best, although it would be a burden on the user. Jappalang (talk) 04:20, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much - I will contact him about the OTRS option - the PA State Parks are all a set here. os that seems the best option. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 12:49, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your trip around Pennsylvania to visit all of the Pennsylvania state park is quite impressive. We'd really like to use your flickr photos to complete our quest to get at least one photo of every Pennsylvania state park. Dincher (talk) 01:26, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr Photo Permissions

[edit]

--Cngodles (talk) 00:33, 5 November 2009 (UTC)I give complete permission to reuse my Flickr photos within the Flickr universe. I will take responsibility for catching any misuse.[reply]

Thanks! Dincher (talk) 00:40, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but do you still want to release the Pennsylvania State Parks set you have on Flickr for use under a free license, either the GFDL or CC-BY-SA 3.0? If the photos are to be used here on Wikipedia, then they have to be released under a free license. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:37, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Photographer's Barnstar
Given with respect and admiration to Cngodles for allowing Wikipedia to use your photographs of fourteen Pennsylvania State Parks. Thanks for helping ensure that every article on Pennsylvania State Parks now has an image, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:45, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! I hope you like the ones we've chosen. Dincher (talk) 20:49, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
