Possible conflict of interest

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Christian Manon, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 14:49, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Continued editing with a conflict of interest

[edit]

Please use the article talk page in order to suggest changes to the article Christian Manon and an uninvolved editor can evaluate and make the changes. Please also include reliable sources for verification of the material you wish to add. As advised above, it is a conflict of interest for you to be editing the article yourself and material added that appears intended for promotion has been removed. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 14:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Christian Manon. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:07, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

stop In this recent edit you blanked the reference section from the article while trying to an image to the article. You continue to edit the Christian Manon article despite a clear conflict of interest and notification that you should instead be using the article talk page to suggest changes. This really needs to stop in order to avoid possible sanctions on this account. Again, please ensure you abide by these guidelines when editing.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 15:55, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Christian Manon 1973.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Christian Manon 1973.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:07, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cmanon. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Christian Manon, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:07, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even though you've been previously advised above about Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and how it applies to you if you're indeed Christian Manon, yet you continue to directly edit the article. You should follow the guidance given in WP:COIADVICE and WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement as use the article's talk page to make edit requests or otherwise seek assistance if you have concerns about the article. There's also advice for living persons who are subject of Wikipedia articles given at WP:BIOSELF.
There are processes in place that you can use to seek assistance from others when you feel something is amiss, and there are others willing to assess any changes you feel are needed to make sure they are in compliance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. If, however, you continue the try to go it alone and "fix" things yourself, the chances of an adminstrator stepping in a taking action to stop you from doing so are only going to increase.
The first thing you should do if you're truly Christain Manon is to follow the guidance at WP:DECLARECOI on your user page. Once you do that, it will be a bit easier for others to help you make changes to the article.
Finally, if you're not Christian Manon but perhaps someone representing him, relevant policies and guidelines related to COI editing still apply to your situation as long as you're editing/creating content about Manon on his behalf. Furthermore, you will need to change your username in accordance with WP:REALNAME. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:19, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

As I mentioned above, WP:REALNAME does allow users to use their real names as their account names if they which to do so, but there can be drawbacks as explained in WP:REALWORLD. Be advised, though, that in some cases an account may be WP:SOFTBLOCKed by an administrator as a precaution against dangerous impersonation until the identity of the account holder can be verified, particularly if your account starts being used to make improper edits.

If you would like to have you identity verified, you can do so by emailing Wikimedia VRT.Once your identity has been verified, a VRT member will add the template {{Verified account}} to your user page. Now, you're not required to do this, but doing so will make it clear to others that you're indeed Christian Manon and not someone pretending to be you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:27, 10 July 2024 (UTC).[reply]

File:C.Manon 24.jpg

[edit]

There's no real need for two versions (File:C.Manon 24.jpg and File:C.MANON 24.jpg) of the same image. As long as you understand what it means to upload your c:COM:Own work per c:COM:L and have no problems with things like c:COM:LRV andc:COM:ENFORCE, the file you uploaded to Wikimedia Commons should be sufficient. Commons is actually better for hosting files because it's a global project whose content can be easily used by all Wikimedia Foundation projects whereas content uploaded to English Wikipedia can only be used on English Wikipedia. It's only really necessary to upload non-free content to Wikipedia because Commons doesn't accept such content.

I will add the Commons file to Christian Manon, but you should request speedy deletion of the local English Wikipedia file by going to the file's page, clicking on "Edit" and then adding the syntax {{db-g7}} (this is explained in Template:db-g7) to the top of the page's editing window. Once you've done that, click "Show preview" to check your work and then "Publish changes" if everything is OK. A Wikipedia adminstrator will then delete the file per speedy deletion criterion G7 in a few days. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:42, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Cmanon, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.

If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.

  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
