Tonawanda High School
Another editor has added the prod
template to the article Tonawanda High School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 01:00, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Asteroid stubs
Many of the articles that mention where the asteroids are discovered lead to dab pages. Here are some examples.
Asteroid | Links to | Should |
---|---|---|
6675 Sisley | Palomar | Palomar Observatory |
21416 Sisichen | Socorro | ????? |
1613 Smiley | Uccle | Royal Observatory of Belgium |
5801 Vasarely | Klet | Kleť Observatory |
Others are very vague like 14179 Skinner linking to Cocoa. It would be nice if the discovery locations were more define for these articles. -Eóin (talk) 02:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I also came to this page to ask why a bot is creating basically useless pages on asteroids and I found there were problems with it, described above. I noticed it while patrolling Special:Newpages and saw your bot was spamming the newpages and making it harder to patrol. Why are you doing this? --User:Iambus | talk 04:32, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- You can hide bot edits at Special:Newpages. As for why the bot is doing this, a few people have asked for this and it has gotten approval from the BAG. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 02:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have any problems with the articles but since the bot is creating so many stubs it would be nice for them to be pre disambiguated. There are roughly 1,000 links to Palomar now and not the observatory. If you do begin to run the bot again please make sure the pages don't link to disambiguation pages. Also very few of the articles have gibberish like 7974 Vermeesch. -Eóin (talk) 02:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- main-belt asteroids should not be capitalized
- the discoverer's names as used on their wikipedia pages should be used. Such as Carolyn Shoemaker, not C. Shoemaker. And Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team should be Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team
- the semi-major axis should be included, it's a very important piece of information.
- the box should say aphelion not ap and perihelion not peri. To do this, delete | apsis = from the infobox
- Less precision should be used...three digits in the infobox
- It would also be great to include the minor planet navigator and small solar system bodies footer
- And use unit names in the infobox
- linking to last name only often won't link to anyone. Should be Kin Endate, not Endate and Kazuro Watanabe, not Watanabe. Just one example.

Mysore Mallige
Nisrec (talk) 12:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC) nisrec The Mysore Mallige looks like a topic which was written with porno intent. The Reasons are given below:
Mysore Mallige AKA Coorg Sweety, Coorgi Sweety, Malnad Special
The fragrance of Mysore Mallige (Mysore Jasmine)
Coorg Sweety, Malnad Special, Mysore Mallige, VCD made waves in Indian Porn Industry. Every video library/shop was flooded with MM VCD’s. The couple are from one of the premiere institute called Malnad College of Engineering, from Architecture school. The girl, Chetana was from Coorg, daughter of a doctor Vasant Kumar. She completed her pre-university at Puttur from Saint Philomena College. Chetana being one of the bright students was offered a merit seat in the Engineering College. She was the topper for the college and the university for five semesters consistently. Apart from her abilities in studies she was very out-going, social and pretty modern. She was also crowned Beauty Queen and Miss Beautiful Eye’s in her second year. She was a party-girl and was present in any party or a Disco in Hassan, Karnataka, India.
Soon after she joined the college she got introduced to a senior, handsome, rich and a dashing guy Pritvi Raj. The guy was from Kuvempunagar, Mysore, Karnataka, India, only son of the most famous architect Mr. Ramappa. He was put up in front of the ladies hostel in Hassan along with his three friends. Pritvi Raj came from an affluent family. Dad, Ramappa, a prime architect and a sister settled in United States. Both Chetana and Pritvi Raj are said to be seeing each other for sometime and also had plans of getting married. Their affair had become the talk of the college and this couple very not one bit shy about their inhibitions. The sad truth about the whole thing was that their parents did not have any clue as to what was going on and very unsuspectingly thought that their children were not coming home as they were busy with their studies.

[edit] Personal life The entire romantic story was the missing link in the story. They were in love with each other by end of the third semester. End of third semester, Chetana shifted out of her hostel and stayed in a room closer to Pritvi’s house There were too many ego problems with Chetana and Pritvi’s room mates, reasons, still a mystery. She started to be in Pritvi’s room most of the time. Though both parents knew about this but none had time to tell them anything
[edit] How they shot the video Both had a great taste for travel, during holidays they enjoyed the cool breeze of Coorg and breath taking sights of Madikere. Madikere being her hometown, both used to stay in Chetana’s house. Time had come to tie the knot. Both families agreed for their marriage. Then the couple had gone to Mysore where they stayed at Darshan Palace (A three star hotel) in Hassan, where this video was shot. Just for fancy or fantasy they recorded the video. Though this was not as famous as Pam-Tommy video, but has its own charm. Handycam made the shoot easy. But one should really appreciate the skills of Pritvi, in shooting the video, just two of them, but still manages to get the complete act just like a professional does and still all natural not just sex but true lovemaking
Nisrec (talk) 12:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC) nisrec : again absolutely no references and very damaging to the alleged protagonist. In the Indian situation alleging someone to be involved in a porn video is very damaging to the social status of the person.
[edit] what is so special about this video This video doesn’t seem to be have been made to blackmail Chetana or neither to sell it. But the charm and shyness posed by Chetana makes this video truly a Master Piece. The initial resistance, the way she pulls the blanket to cover herself. Is truly amazing. The dialogue - "If you don’t pose for the camera ... our children might think that the video is someone else's". Her eyes sparkling her soft hands covering her face just like a typical Indian bride!!
And the bathing scene off-course and the finally the cold engulfs them into the act of love slowly. Above all this was one of its own kind in the part of the amateur world of movie making and both being handsome and beautiful, one doesn’t need any porn star and the effect doesn’t fade as the time passes a true master piece
Nisrec (talk) 12:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC) there are chances that this is true. But this looks to be written with a voyeuristic intent than any knowledge intent. This looks like a porn story in the end.
[edit] How the VCD came out The latest news says that Pritvi had given the VHS for converting it to VCD now that was the mistake or was it a boon to all of us then started all the copies its all over the world. Even today it is one of the most requested online from all parts of the world, as the VCD ends with both still making love, the second part is due release sources say that its already out in the market. But only 30 minutes
Some say they were also seen at the local Court in Bangalore for divorce and some say they both have settled in Canada, may be another case for X-files :-).
Nisrec (talk) 12:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC) nisrec : all weasel words ( "some say", "may be") and absolutely no references.

An editor has nominated Deaths in 2008, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deaths in 2008 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

- ClueBot III is an archive bot. It is necessary for it to mark its edits as bot so the "You have new messages" orange bar doesn't pop up when a user's talk page is archived. Of the four current bots I operate, only the original does not mark its edits as bot edits. "BAG" is short for the Bot Approvals Group. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 20:22, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

WP:OP archiving
Hi Cobi. What can be done about edits like this example? Not only had the marking been done by 'unverified' users, but the marking had not been actioned and the IPs not blocked. Everyone's time has been wasted. Can the bot check the block log for an appropriate block? Should they be moved to a 'waiting for block' section? -- zzuuzz (talk) 00:42, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, there are actually two unverified users who have been doing WP:OP work. They have sought verification, but no one has been around to verify them. Perhaps you could sort that out? As for the bot, I guess I could make it check for a block before moving the open proxy ones. I thought it not necessary at the time because most are blocked by admins before someone ever gets around to checking them, or so has been my experience. If they have not been blocked, I make sure they get blocked after marking them as open proxies. I am personally in favor of completely removing the other sections ("Waiting for block" and such). It is a big hassle to use them, and the bot does not recognize them. I am personally in favor of letting the bots handle the easy ones and leaving the difficult ones for humans to check (CGI/Web proxies, zombies, etc). The main problem is that there isn't enough interest in WP:OP in general. I believe you and I are the only active verified users left. I would like to hear your opinion on the matter. Thanks. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 01:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, those two unverified users would be me (User:Calvin 1998), and User:Nwwaew. As for my marking, I tend to only mark ones that either ClueBot or ClueBot IV prove to be open, TOR nodes that can be verified using a TOR checker, and web proxies when a URL is specified. About the bot, it should search for a opblocked if it detects a oproxy. Calvin 1998 (t-c) 01:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Lots of issues here. The verification thing isn't that big an issue, as long as we can have confidence in the results. I would be happy to list users as verified when they have shown that to my satisfaction, however I couldn't in good conscience verify Calvin 1998 at this time after recent checks like these:[13] [14] [15]. However hopefully he is learning fast about the limits of his knowledge, and I'm trying to help with that :) Otherwise, I am more than happy for others to help with the page, especially in identifying how a proxy is open.
- It's really the unblocked proxies getting archived before blocking. Using the opblocked as a check for the bot is probably a good idea for open proxies which have been blocked as such, but since people also list IPs so they can be checked definitively, it could be misinterpreted when it used to simply say that the IP has been blocked by an admin and it hasn't been properly checked (or the admin listed it themselves). Perhaps we can clarify the instructions for the templates after this discussion. oproxy is used to indicate test results for the benefit of potential blockers - perhaps the template could be changed to say that the IP may still need blocking if the admin is satisfied with the check, and the IP not removed from the page until it is proxy-blocked. The inconclusive is often used as an intermediate flag, pending comments from others for example, and those IPs generally need to sit around on the page for a while. The notaproxy is probably the most difficult conclusion to make, and hopefully only those who know what they're doing will use that.
- I think we can conclude that the meta aspect of this WikiProject is dormant, at least until m:Global blocking comes online. I know that the en page and results are used by admins from quite a few other Wikipedia projects, and it's recommended and used by admins all over this place, so there is still some demand for it. Because of this we can't really get away from the general concept of verified checks, but they do not hold the same meta-value as they once did, and it would be great if we could slicken the process up without losing its integrity. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Poodle edits?
I changed the spelling of "coloir" because I don't think that is how its spelled so I don't see why it was edited. Also didn't realize the word poop was obscene, but thanks for warning me.
98.215.89.130 (talk) 23:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- It look to me as if your first edit was correcting "coloir," which was, indeed, a misspelling you fixed. However, your next edit needlessly changed the more scientific "feces" to "poop," which is a term that seems to come up often in vandalism. Thus it really should have only undone your second edit. (My guess it that, given several edits in a row, if it IDs one as a vandal, it'll revert to the last edit before that user contributed. And indeed, in 95% of the ClueBot reverts I've seen, this is a good thing. Yours falls into the 5% where it's not the right choice.) Hope this helps! Fogster (talk) 21:23, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I didn't make the edit
I just got a message from cluebot about making some obscene edits, which I checked out, apparently under my IP address. While my IP address is listed, I'm quite sure I didn't make these edits. Why did this happen?
This was what I supposedly edited: [18] 132.238.170.145 (talk) 04:43, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't maintain this bot, but noticed your comment and thought I'd respond. The timestamp on that notice was December 15, 2007. It sounds to me as if you might have a Dynamic IP Address from your IP. Whoever had that IP four months ago got that notice, and, for some strange reason, no one visited Wikipedia with that IP address until you got the IP and visited. Thus you can safely disregard the message entirely. (Although you may want to consider registering for an account to avoid these problems! There's a perpetual problem with IP addresses and leaving messages for users on them.) As an aside, please sign your name with ~~~~ on these talk pages: it's replaced with your name (or IP if you're not logged in) and time, so we know who's talking. Hi, I've noticed that a lot of times Cluebots and VoABots give warn1's even a day or two after another warning when something is written after the last warning, such as here and here (user had gotten a warning from VoAbot 2 minutes before, but had blanked the page). Is there any way to teach these bots to recognize those types of instances, or do vandalism warnings need to be more standardized? Thanks, NJGW (talk) 13:21, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- ClueBot looks for the comment stating what level (included in all the templates) and the timestamp in the signature. If the timestamp is more than 2 days old, ClueBot will ignore it. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 19:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- What if the user blanks their page like in the second dif above, which was fooled after 2 minutes? I left the same question at VAbot's talk page, but isn't this a problem that could occur for both bots? NJGW (talk) 21:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
ClueBot III Indicies
What's up with this edit by ClueBot III? Calvin 1998 (t-c) 02:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- With what settings that user had, ClueBot III had no idea what to do, and so it just started listing pages. I have sanitized the user's settings, and reverted the index so ClueBot III will set it to what it should be at. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 03:01, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Honest Mistake
Sorry I left my screen for a few minutes and I quess somebody did a joke on me. When I came back I don't know what happened- it was blank page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lordarchitect (talk • contribs) 17:25, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Add "sexx" to the lbrary of vandalism clue words
Can you add "sexx" to the lbrary of vandalism clue words if it is not already done? -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 22:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

All new changes?
Does cluebot check all new changes? I seem to see it do a good job on some articles, but nothing on others. Bubba73 (talk), 00:36, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Mistake
I was about to press click the mouse on back but it was on the edit page sign so that is how my mistake happened. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.4.197.161 (talk) 02:59, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Bad Index?
Not sure if this is the right place for this. If not, please let me know, and I'll re-post where it is correct. Basically, I've setup the archiving on my talk page. The actual archiving is working fine, but when I turn on the index, I get virtually everything indexed with a non-alphanumeric character (e.g. with apostrophe's double-quotes, parentheses, etc.). So I've had to setup a manual index. Not the ideal solution, mind.
So, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I've check other people's pages, and I've replicated almost exactly what they have, except for the index.
Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kigurumi Loopy (talk • contribs) 17:22, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- It was fixed by Cobi. You don't put an underscore for the space in between User and talk. Calvin 1998 (t-c) 01:46, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I thought I tried that. Oh, well, since it works now, I'm happy. Many thanks for the help. --Kigurumi Loopy (talk) 04:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Does anyone have documentation of how ClueBot III's "BackLinkFixer" works?
I asked a similar (but broader) question on WP:Bot requests; if someone gives an answer that covers this over there, I'll delete this question. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 03:55, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Automatically. Any sections being archived by ClueBot III are checked for backlinks. Any backlinks pointing to the specific section in the form Talk:Pagename#Section_name will be updated to something like Talk:Pagename/Archives/2008/April#Section_name when archived. This does not work for any archival except automatic archival by ClueBot III. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 04:01, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks kindly (I'll remove this part from my question at WP:Bot requests). So you're saying that for it to work, both the page with the link and the page that's the target of the link need to be auto-archived by ClueBot? - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 04:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- No. Just the target page. ClueBot III requests the contents of the whatlinkshere page and goes through each page looking for section links in the form of Talk:Pagename#Section_name. It will then update these to the new location. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 04:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just tried it out, works great. Is it fairly reliable? Are there types of pages on which it does not update the links?
- It created a directory called "Indicies", which is misspelled. My feeling is that if this means a "directory" of the archives created, then "directory" would be a better term. Btw, can any of the Cluebots create an index of archives pages, that is, given a list of keywords, an index of which pages they are found on? If not, do you know of a bot that can? This would save a major amount of effort indexing style guidelines archives. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 14:25, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

China
The China article has a long term vandal. Could Cluebot looks for "Boyé Lafayeete De Mente" as in this diff[21] and auto-revert and notify an admin to block the account? SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
