1815 unreferenced BLPs

I'm pinging everyone who commented at that talk page discussion. My sandbox right now is an attempt at organizing the search string that showed the "true" unreferenced BLPs. Feel free to boldly edit the page if you think you can organize it better :) Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 12:09, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Looks great! Levivich (talk) 16:14, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- I looked through a few. I wonder if we should exclude "Footnotes" to cut out articles like Roy Clark (police officer), Paul Manning (police officer, born 1947), Wyn Jones (police officer) and Peter Winship? I'd be inclined to BLPPROD Roger Franzén, Tinnyse Johnson, Leah Ryerse, Samuela Matakibau, and Ryō Fukuda. I'm inclined to regular PROD an article like Richard Raysman. Some, like Charles Mincy and Tony Reed appear to have the wrong infobox (they're NFL players, would be sourced to nfl.com). Levivich (talk) 16:24, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Levivich Any thoughts on Sobin Yamada? It's a temple so I'm not sure why it's here in the first place. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 14:20, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a temple, just an awkwardly-phrased lead sentence. The subtemple is Shinju-an; Yamada was its abbot. FWIW I just checked GScholar quickly and saw that the two books in his bibliography have received reviews/citations, so possibly NPROF or NAUTHOR notable. Levivich (talk) 14:25, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Levivich Thanks. I do plan to keep working through this list over time but something else kind of caught my attention. I noticed an admin that had created the G10 that's under the deleted section. I started a BLP noticeboard thread about it... do you have any suggestions for trying to clean BLP violations like that up? Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 14:28, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Personally I'd favor being much more liberal with speedy deleting unsourced BLPs. But I don't think that would get consensus. Draftification + notifying related WikiProject(s) that the articles were draftified would probably be more likely to get consensus. Levivich (talk) 16:09, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Levivich I just worry about doing any sort of mass change like that but at the same time feel unease that there's essentially a bunch of mostly unsourced articles containing controversial information about living people (some being alleged crimes). I don't think moving the articles in question to draftspace would really solve that problem.
- Then there's the whole aspect of they're an admin. It makes me doubt myself and my concerns but it doesn't make those concerns go away. I feel like I should be doing something more but I don't know what the best course of action even is. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 16:23, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I think raising it at BLPN was the right move. Levivich (talk) 22:20, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Levivich Thanks. Hearing that gives me some peace of mind. I hope you have a good day. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 22:31, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- You too! Levivich (talk) 22:57, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
